Yet another nuisance call to my land line.  My answering machine picks up.  But they never leave a message.  Annoying....

Formerly operating under another number 701-248-1143, this is a new number for the old L7 Scvc Call scam.  This number is now blocked too.  Came in right within a couple of minutes after I pi$$ed off one of those solar energy scammers so my guess is that this number is related to those guys.

All these bums break the law calling people over and over - the whole "DO NOT CALL" list by the government is just as big a scam as these callers! Constant interruption to people's already busy lives.

Call ID says "Murray, NE." They call constantly at all hours (up to 9PM). Call the # back & a recording says you can press 1 to be put on the "Do Not Call" list; but I've done that at least 4 times in the last 3 weeks & the calls do not stop.

Suzi, the DNC list is NOT a scam.  It DOES work - but only with legitimate telemarketers. The people who don't pay attention to the list are scammers!

The DNC works like this - legitimate telemarketers submit their call lists to the FCC which removes the numbers on the list.

Scammers just go ahead and call everyone they want, regardless of the law. They may be located outside the country and route their calls via the internet, so it is VERY hard to stop them.

Just what did you think the DNC list was going to do?  Is it supposed to have some magic that can stop scammers from calling you?

Don't bother pressing a key to be put on their DNC list - all that does is confirm that they reached a working number.

Although this number is in Nebraska - these calls show up on caller id as being from Kensington MD - real CUTE - RIGHT??

Your caller is not legit,  but sleezy,  and a phisherman looking for a scam..
The DNC doesn't block or stop anyone from calling anyone. It isn't law enforcement.   It is just a "list" to keep the honest.....honest so that they don't call people on the list.  99.9 percent of our callers are not legit,  hidden,  and since they are law violators of the law, they are classified as criminals,  therefore they come under law enforcement, not the DNC.

The DNC is not a law enforcement agency. Go to the FTC/DNC site and learn what it does.

They could be trying any number of things, most likely finding a way to steal innocent people's money.

The one-ring scam (Google that for more info) is one way to get live phone numbers for them or other scammers that they sell your number to. The unsuspecting "phish" gets a one-ring call, and can't overcome the curiosity (which, you'll recall, can kill a cat) and they call the number back. BINGO! Here's a live number they can use or sell.

Other scam calls actually will try to sell you something that doesn't exist, or get personal information from you or threaten you with a (fake) law suit, for example claiming you owe the IRS money for past unpaid taxes. Not true, but some people get hooked. They claim you owe, say, $5000, which will become a lot more if it goes to trial (which it won't) but real scam is they offer to cancel the suit if you pay a lesser amount RIGHT NOW, say, $1500. It sounds like a deal, so you follow their instructions to pay by Western Union (which can't be stopped or returned) or some other method that can't be stopped, or worse, you give up your credit card number to the foreign stranger and you're out a lot of money.

Those are only some ways people are being scammed by telephone these days. Email scams are mostly being beaten by spam filters, so the scammers have resorted to phone calls.

People need to get wise about these.

If your caller is not a legitimate American based business,  Registered  with the FTC and in their database,  required to purchase and maintain the DNC list monthly at a cost of approximately $3500.00 per year,  and did not attempt to sell you Products, Goods, or Services,   the DNC does not administer to,  was not created for,  and is not responsible.  Our law enforcement has the responsibility.....not the DNC.....just a simple List.

We continue to receive this caller - we are using the "no call" phone calls, with little success.
