You're totally correct!  What right do consumers have, expecting that phone numbers provided as contact info, or for registration purposes will be sold in bulk to make a little extra cash for any given company.  How dare people answer their telephones!  You'd think these devices were made for people to easily get ahold of someone, even in an emergency.  I, like yourself, am better than nearly everyone else, so I know how frustrating it can be dealing with these lower life forms.

Strange, though...How...how did such an intelligent creature as yourself get a phone call from this number as well.  That is why you posted here, isn't it?

Nobody is interested in your self-righteous doling out of useless common sense advice.  The least you could have done is post some links for the do not call registry.  Perhaps because you yourself have not done such?

Just answered and entered 1 to talk to a rep to get my number off their list.
    No one answered.
If you select to talk to a rep, does this to verify the number is in service so they can sell it to other telelarketers or scammers?

Ya. Stupid people just tried on me too. I wish they would shut this number down, but they would probably just get another. Anyone report them to the FCC yet?

No message left after I didn't answer. If I don't know the number, I don't answer. Must be a scam because I don't even have a credit card.

Got a call from this number and picked up. Heard the message about "my" credit card. How there was no problem now, but I needed to call to reduce my interest rate immediately. Punched the 1 to speak to someone. Someone bubbly came on and said, "I understand you are interested in lowering your interest rate on your credit card!" I started off by saying, "No, I don't have a credit card." I was going to ask that my number be taken off whatever list I was on, but there was a loud disconnect noise before I could get the words out. I give first place for rudeness for Ms.-I-can-bother-your-but-don't-bother-me!

Well some of us have friends that we know live in that area code and are not sure if they may have changed their number. So maybe you should not add advice like that. Why not just tell people to contact their BBB about the scam, and register on the do not call list!

Got a call to my unused Google Voice phone number, and they even left a message. It was really hard to hear, and this is what Google Voice transcripted it as.

"Wait til I told her services calling in reference to your current Craig."

But it was still the same credit call :P

first off.. to some of you preaching about you need to put yourself on the do not call list or dont answer calls you don't know or to relax or to not get angry over this... wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong.

My cell phone IS ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST.
My cell is also used for work purposes and i HAVE TO ANSWER NUMBERS I DONT KNOW.
If this isn't a scam, then they should be held to the federal laws just as everyone else is. IF IT IS A SCAM, by just shrugging this off or ignoring it, you allow them to take advantage of people who may not grasp the danger or may be confused (IE THE ELDERLY) and then YOU are contributing to the problem.

Personally i'm pretty sure this is a couple of theives sitting in some mansion paid for by CC's they've stolen already using this method. They entertain themselves by calling people foul names who press one and try to get off their "call list"... i'm pretty sure they don't even have a call list.. they probably use an auto dialer that just starts at 000-000-0000 and works it's way up because i first received this call call on my cell and then about a week later i got the call at my work number. 509-570 (cell) and then 509-927 (the work)

I've reported this phone number to Citistream and to the FBI as a possible credit card fraud scam.

I received 2 phone calls from this number.  The first time I never picked up but today I was feeling like an ass so I decided to pick up the phone.  At first it was an "automated message" asking me if I wanted to lower my interest on my credit card to 6.9 %.  If so they ask you to press "1".  So I did!

I stupid [***] gets on the line and says  " Hi, so I understand you want to lower your deb?t "

I immediately replied as... I DO BUT FOR WHAT CREDIT CARD?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The [***] HUNG UP THE PHONE!  I can't wait until they call again... I'm gonna tear them a new [***]!

What's interesting is that I'm getting calls from this number on a phone I use only for internet. It doesn't HAVE a phone number attached to it. How is that even possible??? Yet, they call several times a week.

just got a call from this # on my cell, I don't give out my cell... Same ish as everyone else has reported yet I can't seem to get anyone on the phone to "give them a piece of my mind."  When i call back it simply says "thank you for calling back, press 1 to remove from the list," i'm not pressing anything except the button that detonates the office where these [***] work out of..

They called my cell phone.  It's an older Tracfone and I pay for my minutes, so I didn't answer.  I simply won't waste my time on them.  How/ why they're calling my cell is totally a mystery to me.

Some guy says he's with Experion and I qualify for a lowered intrest rate on all my credit cards due to my credit score which he quotes as being 350 when no exchange of information has been made. when I asked who he was and where he's at  ,he immediately turns the question back on me asking" well, who are you and where are you at"? and I say "wait", because I asked the wrong question. So I ask again " who are you working for" ?  and he talks over me rudly not allowing me to finish . I tell hime he's being rude for not allowing me to finish a sentence and that's when he says he's with Experion and gives me the line of bologna. I say" wow 350, that's pretty low huh?"  He says" yeah that's pretty much bottom of the barrel."" But we can lower your interest rates to (as low as) 6.9%*" As I pondered  an Asian languaged voice loudly stated something and the line was cut.
