I called the # back too, not in service. I would personally enjoy the sight of seeing one of these deadbeats chained to a post so law abiding people could provide "a free gift".

I have just received that same call and message on my Rogers cell. The message was "Hello, as a preferred customer of Air Canada, you have received a special gift.  Press 1 to accept".

We are NOT a "preferred customer of Air Canada" and I don't see how they got our home number, and I certainly will not press 1 or any other number because I cannot be sure that the call is really from Air Canada.

At the governmental web site phonebusters.com owned by RCMP, the "you got a gift or prize" pitch is listed as a #1 phone fraud currently in Canada.

Recieving calls in Winnipeg on my cell - brand new number and have never given it out to anyone.  Seems to me they are just calling random numbers within known NXX ranges.  Certainly wouldn't have been targeting me from any information on any list - unless someone else once had my number.

Just missed a call from this number as well, when I called back the number was not in service.

Also, the number I'm using right now is a Rogers number

CTV news is now doing a report on the new "Air Canada" scam. It is not air canada for those who are thinking. Too bad we can not  cut off these phone calls. What a waste of money.

Got a call from this number at 5:51 PM in Winnipeg Manitoba. They left no message.

Sept 24th 8:03 pm in London, Ontario, Canada.
Was bathing my son when the call came through and the number left no msg, so i figured it may be a friend of mine that moved back out west.. called it back and it said the number was not in service.. confused, I googled the 403 number area and found this site. THANKS!

i used to work in eeeeeevery kind of telemarketting place out there.. other than phone sex hahaha
and this number seems to be breaking all of rules, but i guess that would be the way it would go down considering it`s labelled a scam.

My husband and I both got a call on the same day on our cell phones.  We  haven't flown with Air Canada in years. I am sure we have received calls from this number before.

Has anyone received any crazy extra charges on their cell phone bills from dialing this number back? i was just reading about allllllll kinds of different scams on this site and it seems like it couldve easily been done with all of us calling back. please let me know!

ALSO, this number called both mine and my roomates on the same day for the first time within a half hr time span.

I figured maybe it was info being leaked through the Rogers cell phone database or maybe theyd been hacked for their info.. buuuuut I am with Telus and the only way it could've just been about that was if the rest of the people posting on this didnt receive calls to their faxes, home phones and cell phones all on the same dates. So nuts.

I highly believe these are the same people who had been calling from 1-905-595-0659 Brantford, Ont. A drug related gang. These people are working from Ont to B.C. mostly Alberta, Sask. Ontario. involved with kidnapping and prosecution. I can say more but it would endanger the life  of some people . Even the police are well lets say inept of what is going on right in front of their face. This male has an accent . I even got calls on my cell phone asking me is this no. so and so and I go excuse me this number is unlisted. So it had to be someone close by listening to you while you were giving your cell phone number to a friend.

Why "we cannot stop these calls"? We actually CAN stop them.

Go to the governmental web site http://www.phonebusters.com owned by RCMP, and report it there.

So if Air Canada is aware why aren't THEY doing anything??

Personally if I had a company and someone was dragging its name through the mud and associating it with a scam, I would do something!!!!

I really think the police should have the right to contact the phone company and have the number traced and disconnected at the owners expense!!

Like seriously, why it this so difficult? Air Canada can vouch its a scam, so put a stop to it!! People nowadays have TOO MANY rights, it ends up doing more harm than good, protecting criminals. If you knowingly break the law, I say that is you waving your rights & saying I am aware of the consequences and I fully accept them!

These guys are persistant, They have been calling me for weeks.

They first ask if you are over 25 and then they want a credit card number. So I thought I would have fun and made one up... wow they were so nice. Total idiots.

re jedkitty, well I am one for a fact that does not have an account with Air Canada and with the response you got say they were Air Canada....I think that's a scam too as Air Canada would not post such a note otherwise they would be reported. SO.....who ever this caller is..........stop harrassing all callers and get a real job.
