Payday Loan Collection POSING as an investigator. DO NOT CALL THEM BACK! It may seem scary, however it's a lie. Even if you have an outstanding loan these sharks are trained to use scare tactics to get you to give them your cc# or bank account to take money back form you that you owe. They may say they will visit your home, work or that you are being "served", all false. When being served papers for anything it's not announced.
This company is just working as a collection company trying to get $ form you. DO NOT CALL BACK. You will not be served or go to jail or have anyone visit your home, family or work.
This is a payday loan collection agency. They are located in Atlanta. The "investigator" will say there are felony charges against you and they need to ask you questions...which is a lie. No one goes to jail for an outstanding debt.
If you feel you need to call them back tell them to forward info to your lawyer or local police department.

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:

I believe this is a scam. Received call saying they were a fraud investigator. Called back and rang and rang.. no answer. I do not owe any debts and they did not say my name in the message they left me. If they were a true debt collector they would have said who they are trying to reach. Debt collectors are not allowed to leave any information about collecting debts on answering machines.

The infamous "District 12 Scam" strikes again!  Long history on 800notes.

Usually start out by saying they are calling on behalf  of or from,  the mythical “District 12”.  And they have charge s against you for something like check fraud and that also you’ll be charged with a fraud-related crime unless you immediately make arrangements to pay them money.  Total scam.  It’s been going around for about 3 or four years on 800notes.

    Ignore and block the calls.

This is akin to outright extortion and if you are threatened you should at least report the threat to police.  They can at least alert the community if they can’t actually take a report or accept a complaint.  Police and Sheriff’s departments have different ways of dealing with these kinds of complaints.  Some are more pro-active than others.

This is similar to the "District 217 Scam". And the “Govern Yourself accordingly Scam”.  They call from a lot of different numbers using several different MOs, but basically they try to scare money out of you by threatening criminal prosecution.  They often impersonate lawyers.  They are all related, I think.

    Report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection  (Threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act).

Also contact your local attorney general

I also think that  http://www.republicnationalrecovery.com  is responsible for all these "check fraud" type scams.  Can't really prove it though.

    Fell For it Once
I fell for this once on a "Payday Loan" I never even applied for. I ended up paying 600+ dollars for this. Now they're calling again but this time I decided to investigate a little on my own. Investigator Tiffany Harris with the Fraud unit said the exact thing I fell for a couple years back. When I called back, some girl answered and didn't even greet with the office name or business name. Don't fall for this. Lady got mad when I asked her to provide proof that will pinpoint my personal computer down to a street address and IP address to prove that I applied for a payday loan online.
    Her phone number is 770-988-5143
Last week I received another phone call from Investigator Savannah Evans with Financial Affairs in regards to another fraud claim.
    Her phone number is 404-793-6529.
