- swiftyI just got a call back from Laura steven at the same number previously mentioned asking me how if I was having any luck getting the money to keep myself out of prison when I told her I knew this was a scam she told me that she was a state employee and that I would be going to jail so I guess I'm going to jail today

- CWG40 replies to haleighRead the other posts. This is a total scam. Only judges and DMV can suspend DLs. Only judges issue warrants and they are only issued to duly constituted law enforcement officers. Debt collectors cannot get warrants and debt collectors have no influence on the criminal justice system. Being in debt is not a crime and you cant be arrested for it. There are no warrants. Just scammers attempting to get money out of you.
Thy have no information because they don't want to be identified. Nothing is going to happen. Ignore and block the calls.

Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. If you can find them. - CWG40 replies to swiftyMade me mad too. I'm a vet too. I called that 404 number. They call themselves Arbitrary Mediations or some similar unbelievably stupid name. Hard to make out. These people are claiming to be a state agency that handles check fraud , child support and so forth. Woman hung up when I called her down on what she was doing. Arrogant . Openly admits to impersonating a state agency. Another white collar band of criminals.

- CWG40 replies to SandyScam. Ignore and block the calls. Crazy name "Arbitrary Allegation". What kind of allegation is that? Random? Whimsical? Phony? No basis in fact?
Definition:
Arbitrary:
:not planned or chosen for a particular reason : not based on reason or evidence
: done without concern for what is fair or right
Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
If it's arbitrary, then there's nothing to worry about.
These people go around openly impersonating law enforcement and local state agencies. Total nonsense as well as criminal what these people are doing. - Aubrey replies to Gunnar| 8 repliesThank you for your comment I received the same type of call threating me, saying I am going to get arrested if I do not pay class c felony call come from 404-724-5701
- TOSHA BROWN replies to Aubrey| 5 repliesI received a call from 404-724-5702 yesterday stating her name was Bonnie Styles from The Division Arbitrary Services. She didn't give me a file number or anything and stated that I owed for an on-line Payday Loan. She also called a cousin of mine in which I don't even know how she got her number. I have been receiving these calls for years from various numbers saying I will be arrested within 24 hours blah, blah, blah..
- Alfalfa replies to TOSHA BROWN| 4 repliesHow can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ - LATOSHA BROWN replies to Alfalfa| 3 repliesThank you so much for the information. They called again a little while ago and I asked for the company name, address, case or file number and the lady said let me get my director and never came back to the phone. I will most definitely be filing a complaint to the Attorney General's Office as well. Thanks a lot for the helpful information.
- Alfalfa replies to LATOSHA BROWN| 1 replyYou are welcome. These criminals are not going to waste their time on an educated consumer. While you are at it, report them to the Georgia Department of Consumer Affairs. I am sure that John Sours will be interested in this bunch.
- Alia replies to AlfalfaThey're trying to get me too! Called CFPB, and the States Attorney's Office. I'm on hold with the Secretary of State to confirm that the State ID number they gave me is bogus. I'll be calling the FTC and(requested by SAG office) filling a complaint as well. They are very slick and try to get around some of the questions and ways to protect yourself by saying they aren't a debt collector, only an arbitrator, so they don't have all of the info you are asking for. Also, she did have a case number and was more than willing to give me an address. I was expecting a call back fro them by now, amazing they haven't called me back since I was skeptical and said I was going to research them before proceeding any farther. The scare tactics they use are insane!
- Alia replies to AprilSame call, different people. I was originally called by Marilyn Schaeffer and the director was Laura Stevens, id 9501.
- Alia replies to haleighThey're getting smarter! Today she had a name for the loan place, but couldn't give me when the loan was taken out and had an address almost 10 years old.
- Beth| 1 replyWe have gotten a few of these calls from Arbitration Services, this last one was the number in the message of 404-724-5710 and a case number of 2015-1604206 with a supposed allegations against my son. The person that left the msg said their name was director Ava Gold. Also stated there had been a 10 day notification sent to him. Scam?????

- CWG40 replies to BethTotal scam. Read the other posts.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:

Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. If you can find them.
