- BriThe same number called me and left a "case number" and a message that I would be served at my place of employment or residence. I did a search and could not find a business, it's a scam.
- DeeI am getting the same calls and they will not give me all the information I am asking for. I too believe this is a Scam Company. The money they are requesting about was never deposited into my account.
- Diana| 2 repliesThe call was by a man named Jason Wagner and he said he was from Pretrial Services and he was calling for CP Inventors to reach a settlement on the money I borrowed from their client. Jason would not tell me how much went into my account, but knew where I banked. Jason said that my Drivers License number would be hold and any property I owned until I payed back the money. I reviewed my accounts from when I opened my account and no loan from CP Inventors was credited to my account. Please be aware that this is a SCAM.

- MJG replies to DianaJason is a LIAR!! He can NOT take your driver's license or property. To garnish wages/property takes a court order. You are correct - SCAM. He is hoping to scare you into paying him.
- CWG40 replies to DianaCommon scam. Ridiculous too. No debt collector can "hold" anyone's DL. Or "hold" any property.
- lb| 2 repliesI receive 2-3 calls a week, giving me cause no. will serve me, etc. As a retired police officer, I know better. SCAM, can't be served by phone, but I can't block it from my cell. Any advice on how to block it?
- Slim replies to lbModern technology has given telespammers the tools to call you.
Lawbreaking telescammers ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocking device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.
Google "call blocker" for more information. There are available apps (some free) for smart phones, and services and devices for landlines.
If you cannot use or afford such a tool, then:
• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service. Telespammers usually hang up after 3 or 4 rings.
• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number, and make it more valuable to more spam groups! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete. If the incoming call was important, they would have left a message!
• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. (This also works for smartphones). The spammer will usually hang up before the phone goes to voicemail.
• Another option, for cell phones: Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT. Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers. That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact! You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number! (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers).

- SierraI keep receiving voice mail messages on my cell from automated calls (the beginning of the message is cut off) advising me that if they locate me at my residence or place of business it will be to late to settle out of court and to call them and refer to a case number. I have actually gone through a legitimate judgement and know for a fact that this is a complete scam!! You need to receive a written letter from the company and then be served a subpoena which allows you to respond before it goes to court for judgement ruling. I've gotten the exact same messages from other phone numbers stating exactly the same thing.
