tried to scam on cl , offered 450 more for my 4runner. Said he was out at sea. These scammers need to learn a lesson.  Only take cash or have them  wire the money into your account.  No checks period.

Just got a text message with the same scam,  reporting this to the police now

Just got same text scam for my for sale  BMW on Autotrader and CarGurus. Same phone num. No questions, paying full price plus $250 hold fee for ‘cashiers check’  Seems to be moving up market! Thanks to all if you for helping others like me.

Scammer for cars listed on the internet as for sale by owner.  Sent text "Used (my car with my price)"  No "call me"  "I'm interested".  Who falls for this crap?

Tried to buy my car  through text , no questions asked.     $350 above asking for holding it

Offered to purchase my dad's BMW on Autotrader for $36,000, listed for $22.9K.  Text stated they would pay full asking price and $250 holders fee.  The catch was, when they picked up car, he had to give them $13K back

Wanting to buy mu Corveete and pay $650 more than asking

Text msg wanting to send check to buy a car for sale. Would pay $150 to hold the car until someone picked it up. Plan was to pick up car and check would not clear.

That is not how the scam works.  They don't care about the car or furniture, or whatever it is that you are selling.  They send a check with the money in it to pay the "shippers or movers".  You are to send that money by untraceable means.  Then the check bounces and you are out the money and the bank fees.

IF you should get a check in the mail, take it AND the envelope to the post office.  Pass it on to the postal inspectors.

This same scammer  Rure Texted me to buy my E 350 Mercedes Coupe. I knew it was a scam from day one since the same guy tried to buy one of my racecars last year. I played along. He writes these checks on a small tractor store in Kentucky, they come from Indianapolis. US Bank( his bank of choice) called the company on the check and was informed that on Thursday 12/13, the company was presented with 5 different checks from scammers.. These scammers are really busy. This idiot/thief also sent me a copy of his drivers license. I provided all the information to the local police and they are forwarding all the info to the Feds. Additionally, US Bank has a fraud  team working on this guy. Hopefully he will be spending a lot of time with " Bubba" in his prison  cell.

Same as all other stories. I posted a television for sale on Craigslist. I received a text about his inquiry, I responded to the email (calfbhv8@gmail.com) and this was the response from Kenneth Alma:

It definitely seemed suspicious so I googled the email, and found this thread. Glad I looked into this.

Trying to get us to deposit a check to our account on craigslist for an item we posted.  Sounds fishy.  Once we asked for personal info he stopped responding.

She will ask for your # and will always want to be on the phone with you at all time. She is a crazy [***].
