A missed call on my cell. Called the number back and the lady, "Missy Elliot", said they were trying to collect a medical debt from a person with my same name from back in June 2009.  She asked if the last four of my SSN was -xxxx and it was not so I said 'no'.  Even if it did match I would not have admitted it since I have no clue whether or not the caller was legit.  She said they must have the wrong person, apologized, and that was it.  Sounds like they were making random calls to people with the same name hoping to find the right one.

They ask personal information, very likely a scam. Just block the numbers.

I continually receive calls from the number of 407-545-3497.
I am on a DNC list (government DNC list), so why am I still receiving these calls?  Do these companies never have to face the consequences of harassing people who are on the DNC list or are there any consequences to be faced?  Is the DNC list a joke?

No.  And half the complaints about this number thus posted indicate that the call is from a debt collector.

From "Summary of FCC's Do Not Call Rule,"
    http://www.bankersonline.com/dnc_project/dnc_fccrulesummary.html :
"Don't worry! The act of 'terminating' an established business relationship doesn't affect a creditor's ability to make debt collection calls because those types of calls are not telephone solicitations and don't include unsolicited advertisements."

You are using the wrong rule.  Think of it this way: you wouldn't use a screwdriver to beat scrambled eggs or a trumpet to weed your lawn.  So why are you using the DNC List to try to block debt collectors?

You should be using the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, instead.  See:

Yes, the DNC list is a huge joke. My personal experience is there is no point in it. I have placed my number on it, told companies I am on it and got laughed at, tried to report them but was unsuccessful. I feel I wasted my time even putting my number on the list.

Update:  03-09-2017 @ 9:43AM EST. Received another call from this number (407) 545-3497 yet they "Cloaked" the number as (701) 248-9890.
They call at all hours & never leave a message but will stay on your lines message recorder for as long as you have the phone on in an attempt to get someone to say hello and the word "Yes" by asking questions like "Hello?  Can you hear me?" Never say they word "Yes" as it will be recorded and mis-used to bill you for things you didn't order.
This info was provided to me through a legal contact and other victims.
The DNC List which we are on doesn't work, as these culprits just keep disguising their numbers. I just keep Blocking numbers but they seem to have a never ending list of Fake Numbers to get past this. Good Luck and please post any suggestions. Thanks

When you call back, a recorded message says you called a number that is currently not set up to received calls, then promptly hangs up on you.
