I have received these type of calls before.  They are robo calls that sound like you are talking to a  human but it is a recording.

They usually say something like "Hello, This is <name> from customer service.  Can you hear me ok?"  On one occasion, the recording claimed to be Josh.  While visiting Las Vegas I got these calls multiple times a day, the voice was different, but the dialog was the same other than the name.  I never listened to the schpeil all the way through to know what it was about.
