Called today, despite being on no call list. I looked it up and it is a claim center.  Probably calling to tell I have won a prize that I don't want and did not enter to win. Clearly a scam! Suggest you add them to call blocker.

Called to tell us we hit a Hertz Rental car in a city we weren't in, at a time we were at home. They will not stop calling or writing, despite being told they have the wrong name and the wrong person.

Just got the same deal from someone in Florida, saying that damage was done to a Hertz rental car. Seeing as we haven't used Hertz in years, we knew immediately it was a phishing scam.

It's not a scam, they are a claims company for Hertz.  You should speak with them and have them send any evidence they may have to you. I scraped a little paint off a rental, told them about upon the return and they tried to charge me $1,000 for it 3 months later. Fighting with them now.

They called me asking to pay for the rental car damage, (Thrift rental car, paint scrapped on the rear door because of fence while turning inside). They dont send any documents, but they shared a 16 digit claim number for my insurance. I am not sure whether they are scam or legit but they dont send anything over mail. My insurance has paid $800 and still I owe $1000 itseems.

Definitely a scam! Daughter got a  letter today asking for $500 due to damage she did to a Hertz rental.  She’s only 19 and can’t even rent from Hertz and has never had a rental from them.  Disgusting scum that prey on people! Block them!

If anyone is wondering how this plays out when the “Hertz Claim Center” calls saying you owe them money and then mails you a bill with their bogus claim of the damage you (didn’t) cause to their rental car, I’ll tell you. So you don’t pay them, right, and they’ll keep calling and sending letters for awhile warning that it’s going to go to collections and that could hurt your credit. Then it goes to collections, except the collections agency they sell to is a junker one that doesn’t even submit to the credit bureaus. So you ignore them too, they’ll mail you a few humorous letters offering to settle for 50%, then 25% or something like that of what you “owe,” and then it just stops as they give up. Your credit doesn’t get affected. The Hertz losers with their illegal scam sold it to “collections” for pennies on the dollar. It’ll seem like this crap doesn’t end but it eventually does. Oh yeah, and a letter from Hertz saying you can’t do business with them as a customer anymore — LOL, yeah because I was SO going to want to again after this!

How positive are you this is how it works out? Sorry I am really nervous about the one phone call they gave me and now my parents got a letter in the mail claiming I owe $2000 for damages that I did not cause to the vehicle. Thank you in advance!

Positive that it is a scam.  A police report would have been filed and they would have been able to determine if your vehicle has Insurance or not.
No legitimate company is going to "blindly" mail out a Claim without proof. Rest assured, its just a scam.

Unless they are trying to say you did $2,000 in damages from just wear and tear.
