- Al replies to Trevor| 1 replyBe very cautious doing this. Remember there are a lot of crooks involved with these things and the last thing you need is for someone to come after you. You are NOT anonymous when these people call you. I know this because a couple years back I did exactly the same thing when I got a call from one of those PC service scammers. I fed him a line, etc. Hung up and then he called me back directly and started screaming at me. At the time I didn't care and I got a kick out of the fact the guy called me from Pakistan or whereever on his dime, not through a dialier. But then I realized he had my landline number, and he had earlier asked for me by name. If he'd wanted to he could have caused some trouble. I know it's tempting to try and make the calls as uncomfortable as possible for these people (a friend of mine liked to use the N-word and other vile language to these callers), but it's not worth the risk. And if you actually threaten someone with violence you could be the one with the cops at your door especially if you time it and let fly with someone who is actually calling from Canada, the US or somewhere "local" as opposed to a third world country a zillion miles away.
- R.M.CribbsReceiving repeated calls from this number as well as from 519 623 9222 and 416 900 3436. No one is ever on the line. Must be a coward.
- Freedom 55 replies to F.C.Just called here to,did not answer. These people on the other end must get yelled @ alot, LOL!!!
- SylviaI find the best thing to do is not pick up phone receiver. This number was on display when I got home today. Early Sun. a.m. phone rang and when I saw a number on display that looked like a call center I almost didn't answer. Luckily I did as it was my cousin in England calling. The most annoying part of all these calls from call centers is that I'm physically handicapped, an older senior, and I don't want to ignore the ring in case it's a friend or family member. I'm also on DNCL but it doesn't stop these darn callers.

- Camille2009Dont know y they r calling me from florida... I live in canada... I dont do business over there.
- MaxxxxxxxxxCalled here too; I never answer phone numbers that either do not have a name associated with the number or isn't one I recognize. That's the best way to get these harassing calls to stop. The phone companies aren't going to help out; they want the money. At one point, I was getting as many as 6 calls every day between about 9 am and 6'ish pm. I phoned my carrier and told them that unless they wanted me to switch companies they'd better do something. Ta da. The calls stopped. I now get very few calls such as these ones. I highly recommend you try this strategy with your phone company. They're the ones letting the calls through--then switch if they don't bail you out.
- Capt. Kirk replies to AlCaptain's Log: Stardate 11/26/2013...The Telemarketing
Telephonic Trolls are at it again ! Boy I'd like to dis-
charge a couple of Photon Torpedoes up their backsides.
I have to agree with Al, ppl you can't try to taunt or
threaten these dirtbags, 'cause it could come back at ya.
You don't really know where they are, or how much info
they might have on anyone.
Don't answer numbers you don't recogize. I just let it go
to VM...
Scotty...Beam me aboard. - grasshopperNumerous machine generated calls. Trip to Disneyworld. I do not answer unknown callers.

- sheilahate getting theses calls wish they stop
- Ramoth_v2Dec.2/13@5:40pm - Was home and thought it was a contact in Alberta (am in Ontario) so answered even though it said 'Caller Unknown' (in case they were using a long distance card). As soon as I answered it was dialtone - my Rogers home phone cuts off autodialers; I now have an extended absence greeting on my voicemail, and this has reduced many.
This same 'you've won a trip to Disneyland' are the same scammers using - T: 1-407-621-2545; who were so annoying in August and September. They have also been 'fake Windows support' scammers.
So this is likely organized crime calling to identify valid numbers, often re-using old lists and phone book publications (how they seem to have your name - they ask you to verify it); then they try to validate any personal data they can on you - address, credit card, phone numbers, income levels....its all to create Fake IDs using your name to commit fraud with. See the RCMP Top Scams website. These are crooks that do not respect telemarketing regulations or DNC registries - you are just a 'mark' to them. They are often hired call centres out of Karachi, Pakistan (search on "CBC Marketplace, To Catch a Telemarketer"), but they have connections all over the world. They fake Windows Support; air duct cleaning; carpet/window cleaning; 'you entered a contest, come claim your prize (for a fee) and give us your contact info (to supposedly verify; which is a lie); fake surveys; win a cruise/timeshare scams (which is about money laundering).
Just hang up, or better don't answer. The numbers they call from are spoofed (computer generated to look North American, but aren't real). They also numerically call number after number -its not personal. If they get a 'live' number, they add to their lists (which they re-use, share, sell and rent); if you annoy them you get targeted for MORE calls. Keep posting and reporting to your anti-fraud unit, and write your elected representative that you want your trade agreements, laws, and anti-fraud to have support to help shut these international crooks down!
