Some guy called and identified himself as calling from NBC. As soon as he spoke I told him I no longer live in CA and to take my number off his list to which he replied that they call nationwide. I reminded him that across the nation has different time zones (it was 10:30p) and he just woke up my baby. Just before I hung up he said that he was in the same time zone. I doubt another 408 is in central time...

A call at 7:30pm with no voicemail is shady, especially after I already received another questionable call 15 min ago.

Got a call around 6PM but did not answer. Rang for a shorter time, left no voicemail

Called at 8:42 pm.  Left no message.  Caller ID says "Out of area" but I live in the 408 area code, so the caller is trying to hide their identity.  I blocked the number.

Still scamming, called at 2:16 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2020

Just got a call from this number, which is local to me.  Caller ID and polite caller reported himself as "Call Research" and asked me to confirm my name.  After I did so, he said "hmm, looks like we are having some technical difficulty, so that's the only question we have for you today, thank you" and quickly hung up.

I suspect maybe this was an effort to confirm phone numbers of specific people, perhaps for collection purposes.  I.e., social engineering.  Kicking myself that I fell for it.

Caller ID says "Call Research", no message was left.

I take it you don't know what a "survey" is. Well, it is when a research company goes around asking specific questions about a particular subject and no, it is not  telemarketing or a solicitation. It may be to gather data for telemarketing statistics though.
