This company claimed I purchased computer repair from them, which I had not. They wanted me to connect online so they could show me malicious activity on my computer. I never purchased such a thing- beware!

I got this call too. Referred to back when I paid $50 for a remote tech to work on my computer (which I had). This is why it kept my attention. They said I had been hacked and they could get rid of all the malware for a fee. When they said to pay by Western Union (because to pay by credit card the hackers would get my cc no's.) I knew it was a scam. Hoping they didn't install anything on my computer.

Received call from someone claiming to be from OmniTech who noticed problem when monitoring activity with my computer.  I have had OmniTech support in the past and had no reason to question the caller at this point.  I gave him permission to access my computer, he "ran some diagnostics" and determined that I had been hacked.  He claimed that the  hacker was on my computer at that time,  and that he could get rid of the hacker and all malware for a fee and extend my OmniTech service for 24 months for a fee of $349.99. I offered to give him my American Express number, but he refused saying that the hacker would then have access to my card number.  He then said I would need to send the money by Western Union.  Like a fool, I went to the local Western Union and at that point discovered that the caller was requesting that the money be sent to Thailand.  Obviously I did NOT send the money, and am on the phone with the real  OmniTech Support trying to ascertain if the hackers installed malware on my computer.  Lesson learned:  If tech support calls you, it is  more than likely a scam!  Call tech support WHEN YOU need them!!

They want you to sign on at the address teamviewer.com, after the call you from the above referenced number. The excuse they used was that my Win computer was giving error messages....don't use MS; sorry.

Definitely a scam; the troubling aspect of this is that they know your name and tel number....true scum.

Your damaged computer is the least of your worries. You can be certain they copied every bit of valuable personal information you had on that computer first. Credit card numbers, bank account information, Social Security Number. They've got it all now.
