We also had a complaint for Rickenbacker Group. We sold a car for $300 and we did not know that the new owner just left on the road. The next thing we knew is that they put a negative report on my husband credit report owing them for $2,076!!! We are willing to pay just the amount that we sold it only if they will delete it from the report. They gave a settlement of $1,500 and will only delete from the report if we will pay in full!!

I saw from another website that we can call Call Carol Stuart at the San francisco city attorney's office.415-554-9711 1390 Market st. suite 700 San Franscisco, CA 94102. She is investigating Rickenbacker.

But we are willing to join any legal law suit. Now I'm not willing to pay them even a penny!

i left a old car legally parked i had to go away and travel because job demands it. next thing i know car gets towed and i owe 1600 now its on credit report of course guess who yes rickenbocker group.too many connections here obviously these people is running a scam operation to extort money from inocent folks.i believe they go out and random ly and purposly pick there victims.oh yea they are doing it legally allright. bs we have rights too.these crooks need to be stopped now.

I received a call from this phone # they spoke to my mother requesting to speak to and they gave the name of my 6 yr old son, I called back requested to know what this was in referrence to and of course they cant locate my info or sons name in their system they put me on hold and never came back to the line

I got a call from these people today. The first thing I do with an unknown number is google it. They left me a person to contact, a phone number and extension to call on my voice mail. Sounds like this is going to be an interesting call....

DO NOT call them back. Either Jessica, Brooke, or Anthony will try to help you and yell, put you on hold, give you some attitude and respond to you with "bleh bleh  bleh"....  You also find out that this company succeeded scamming people in CALIFORNIA for the last 40-50 years.

Truth: Yes they are located in Morgan Hill, CA   and they also go by numerous other phone #... such as 408-762-7280, 408-762-7322, and 800 573 8774 DO NOT give them any of your information other than what they know if you do call them.

I was caught in a fraud ring when we sold our car to someone and that other person was a junkyard worker who then worked with another towing company to fake a tow and got our information from DMV and then worked with this collection agency to get money from us.

THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING TO REACH OUT TO YOU AND GET TO YOU ! I sent them bogus 1000 page fax and harassed them myself ! They were laughing and playing games, making fake accents in their bilingual tones...

To know that there are individuals out there who do this for a living is SICK !
REMEMBER before you ever CALL back ANY #, please do some research and you'll be shocked to find the information. Apparently I am not the first one to be involved in a similar incident that involves a car, towing, or some vehicle incident.

This report is to assist those who don't know who to write or what to do with their complaints.

Hopefully, if we all write, follow up and stay after this company, we can stop this.

Looks very suspicious to me!

Short Version: I sold a car in 2004. Evidently, even though I have never received ANY DOCUMENTATION or VALIDITY of the debt, nothing in writing, the car was totaled in 10/2006. Take note: 2006...in 12-2008 I start getting harassing calls from this company demanding $1599.00! I asked where incident happened..."I don't know", I asked for vehicle VIN, answer: "I don't have it!" In yet they expect me to pay, just send $$.

Now they say I owe $1789.00! (?)

Been caught up in the tricks of this company?

If you are getting harassing calls, write a "Dispute - Cease and Desist Letter." They can no longer call you once they receive the Cease and Desist Letter. It is against the law! (Be sure and send Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested, so they can't say they didn't receive it!) HOWEVER, they can and will turn you into the credit bureau even though you disputed the charge.

In that letter, be sure and ask for validation of the debt and all information relating to it! If it is for a vehicle you sold, ask for VIN#, Lic #, date and location of the towing or incident, copies of the invoice, what happened to the vehicle? Was it sold, how much? Copy of the sale and amount sold. Ask for everything you can think of. They must validate the debt. Just calling and saying you owe thousands, well... BE MORE AGGRESSIVE  THEN THEY ARE!

Okay, now, here is what you do. You make one letter explaining all of the above details and make copies of it for all the agencies. List everything about the harassing calls, the amount they say you owe, ALSO mention (IF) that the debt started out; as for example, $1500.00 and now the debt is $1800.00!... when you sold your vehicle and that this is not your debt, that you have requested the above information and have never received it. (Allow Rickenbacker 10 business days after the receipt of their letter, send it Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested, then you will know they received it, and they can't say they didn't! Their 10 days starts the day they signed for the letter.)

Then forward your letter of complaint to the following agencies.

You can also write the Better Business Bureau, but I realised I needed to stop and ask myself: WHO PAYS THE BBB FOR THE BBB MEMBERSHIP? The company you are complaining about!

Some of these agencies you can file a complaint on line. Be sure to make copies (print) for your file.

If we all complain, maybe we can stop Rickenbacker Group! But, we need to KEEP FOLLOWING UP!

I have asked them to stop calling. they have the wrong person.  they stop for about a week then start calling.  I am on the do not call list.  Do I need to take this matter further.  There is a law in CA and they are bothering me.......

I want the harassing phone calls to stop. I want to find out who these people truly are, address etc. so I can give it to my lawyer.

my car was sold in 2005 and the guy i sold it to dumped it somewhere in LA. Now I'm getting harassed for it...I live in NY! I spoke with a few people at Rickenbacker and unfortunately they were extremely unhelpful and even threatening, one operator or collector was shouting at me telling me I was lying and that I am obviously an irresponsible person. My particular situation was unimportant to them and their only advice for me was to sue the guy I sold my car to.
Is it possible to stop companies from acting this way? Am I to wait it out till its taken off my credit report? How is it they get to be in control of my information and life? May I call to harass and insult them? Its all just to much.

This number has been call at all hours and 7 to 9 calles with in minutes of each other...answered once and got nothing...sense then call after call eveyday.

Yes, I get calls from this company at least twice a week.  It rings me with a pre-recorded message saying I have an "urgent matter" with this company.  It asks me to press 0 to speak to an "associate."  I do so.  Then, an associate picks up asking, "How can I help you?"  I tell them that I don't know, because THEY keep calling me.  He asks for the number they call and my name.  I did.  They say I'm not even in their "system."  This was a few days ago...and guess what?!?  They just called a while ago!!!  What can I do to make them stop calling.  I don't pick up, because it's irritating.  I really want them to stop calling, in general.  Regardless of whether or not I pick up.
