Very realistic sounding robotic voice that takes too long to respond and repeats the same lines in the exact same intonation.  "She" eventually hung up on me because she didn't like me asking what company makes these topical creams.

Do Not Call list works just fine. Go to their website and submit a claim against this number.

This busy caller doesn't seem to care to leave a message, or to look up the DNC list! The government doesn't care enough to enforce the DNC list, so why bother at all?

The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those telescum are not registered, do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.  Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and spamming telemarketers!

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers.   To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

After I answer and then know it is a telemarketer I next make my announcement; "If you want to talk that is fine with me, there is a $500 consultation fee to continue with this call. So what do you want to talk about today?"
Funny thing is they hang up and most do not call back.
I also let them know I am lonely and I want to talk to someone. They do not know how to handle it.
Answering the phone is free and turning the call over to my control is fun. The calls have gotten less frequent.

Got a call from this number and didn't pick up.  I'm on the do not call list but no one honors that any more...

Called me 10-14-14.  I didn't answer.  Came to this site.  Found all the negative comments.  Glad now that I did not answer.  They did not leave message.  You can tell a call is not legit if they do not leave a message.  Thanks for all your comments.  Your comments help others.

That's the message you will receive if you call them back. Sounds like the fastest way to get more telemarketers from different time zones to call you if you "opt out". I would not enter ANY numbers if I were you.

And that's the specific thing I disagree with.

If you are going to enter numbers, enter this one: (202) 326-2222. It's the FTC's contact number for Washington DC.

That way, if it's actually a continuation of the scam, you have verified that the FTC's number is active.

on 'do not call' lists (federal and state), matters not to the disrespectful.  Have the ability to block numbers so they will not call again.  every phone service should offer 'number blocking',  that is the only thing that will work with these inconsiderate idiots.
