This company is a collection agency. This particular collection agency doesn't make calls attempting to collect debt for delinquent cell phone or credit card bills.

This collection agency primary objective is to attempt to collect the debts owed by deceased persons at the time of there death.

The term "Estate" in-part is defined as:

the property of a deceased person, a bankrupt, etc., viewed as an aggregate.

Well I have been harassed by these folks on numerous occasions. They have started to contact my house.. as the last number they have listed for my ex wife. Her father just died.. and I am guessing they are looking to collect debt from his estate.

Good luck. I am not assisting them in any way. And have informed them not to call my house again..*two times*

IF they call again, I will be filing a complaint.. with who?  no clue..

    FCC? Local DA? BBB?

I've been getting calls from these people also.  They are looking for the person handling the estate of someone who died, who happens to have the same last name as I do.  When I called them back, they said, if you can't give us the name of the person we are looking for, we'll keep calling you.  Any idea who to call to file a complaint???

There's a man that calls several times a week inquiring about a deceased former employee. He says he's from Estate Recovery. I've told this guy several times, she doesn't work here, she's deceased. He then asks about how to get in touch with her family. WTF!

    Consumer Rights for Debt Collection

    Debt Collectors Have Rules Too
Would You Really Know if They Crossed the Line?

It's important to know your rights regarding debt collection. Both federal and state laws require businesses and debt collection agencies to follow certain rules. If you believe the agency violated your rights, contact your BBB or the Maryland Collection Agency Licensing Board at (410) 528-8662.

Debt collectors may contact you in person, by mail, telephone or fax. They cannot contact you at unreasonable places or times, or so often it disturbs your daily life. They may not contact you at work if your employer disapproves of personal calls. If the original creditor has released your debt to a third-party collector, you can send a letter by registered mail to request it not contact you at your place of business. By law, the company must comply. Debt collectors may not reveal your debt to anyone except you or your lawyer. They may not threaten violence against you or your property, use obscene or abusive language, or advertise you have a debt.

A debt collection agency may not misrepresent the truth. They cannot use a false company name or creditor name, or release untrue information about you. They cannot insinuate you have committed a crime or that there will be legal repercussions if you do not pay a debt. Within five days of first contacting you, the agency must send you written notice of the amount owed with information about the original business or lender to whom you owed the debt.

If the debt is yours, do not avoid the situation. Some debt collectors have payment plans. Be truthful about your monthly budget. If the agency is willing to cooperate on a payment plan get everything in writing.

However, if you have reason to believe the debt may not be yours, you must send the debt collector a certified letter within 30 days. Include a receipt request and ask for proof of the original bill from the original creditor. Keep copies of all correspondence. In the event of a dispute, inform the company you are doing so, and send a copy of the letter to the MD Collection Agency Licensing Board. It is then the debt collection company's responsibility to prove the debt exists.

This company contacted us after my Father-In-Law's death.  I guess he purchased an ATV with an HSBC credit card.  Anyway they have lied to us everytime they called us, saying that they have the title to the vehicle when in fact they do not.  When I called them on that lie, then they said they had a lien against it.  Our attorney has informed us that can't be true either due to the fact that it would say there is a lien on the actual title, which it does not.  They also said that they would come and recover the vehicle.  I told him to contact our attorney and if he told us to turn it over to them, we would do so.  Our attorney said ABSOLUTELY NOT!  I would think that the lies and the threat to recover it is violating our rights.  Am I correct in assuming this?

THESE PEOPLE KEEP CALLING! IT SAYS ESTATE RECOVERIES WITH PHONE #410-444-8022 ON CALLER I.D. THEY ARE QUITE NASTY. CALLING ABOUT A DECEASED PERSONS DEBT, BUT IT IS A BUSINESS DEBT THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE BEING HANDLED DIRECTLY THRU THE BUSINESS AND THE CREDITOR, NOT THESE NASTY IDIOTS. THE GUY USUALLY DOESN'T LEAVE A NAME OR CALLS AND TALKS SO FAST THAT I CAN'T CATCH PART OF THE MESSAGE, EVEN WHEN I REPLAY IT SEVERAL TIMES! I'M CALLING THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR (AMERICAN EXPRESS) AND COMPLAINING AND FINDING OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS WHEN WE HAD ALREADY DISCUSSED ARRANGEMENTS WITH THEM DIRECTLY!

I have been getting harrassed by these people as well and have flipped out on them. They are trying to collect a debt from a credit card bill of my deceased mother. Because my social security was linked to one of her accounts from 20 yrs agi they are now harrassing me and threatening me. I want to report them as well but do not know how. I called the cc company and they said that I need to write the estate people a letter but I really don't think that is going to stop them. They just keep calling me back over and over after I hang up on them. i am at my wits end.

    anybody have any suggestions?

My husband divorced a woman over 10 years ago.  She passed away and he was kind enough to send out letters with her death certificate... BIG MISTAKE. He is now listed as the contact for collections.

Is there a number I can call to have his information removed??

I keep getting calls from this number and have mostly ignored them.  They are calling a number I do not give out except to friends and family.  I did answer it once and they were calling area code 586 and mine is 585.  I am still getting calls.

Called asking about details of my mom's estate. I told them I would not give them any information until they told me who they were and why they were calling. They refused to answer my questions until I gave them my name and relationship. I refused and they ended up hanging up on me. VERY PROFESSIONAL if you ask me....my advice don't give out any information if they won't tell you the reason for the call!!
