This person named Mr. Dale answered when I called back after getting a message on my machine.  I am a physician who as far as I know have never had a collection account.  This extremely feminine man answered and was ver sarcastic and rude.  I told him not to call back and he has since called me twice more.  I am fed up.

I've received phone calls from this number at 2:00 AM EST.  I know that for each offense the state of Maryland will charge $11,000.  I don't owe for any medical bills, but will record all calls from this number on my digital recorder and then e-mail the information to Maryland States Attorney.

Make sure you advise them while your recorder is on that you will be recording this conversation or else you yourself are guilty of breaking the law.

Maybe there is a bill in their office for someone with your last name and they think that person lives with you.

Not in all states. In one party states you can record without notification. Check your state laws. When they violate FDCPA sue them in federal court for maximum damages.

Collection agencies like to use the courts to enforce investments. We should do the same when they violate federal or state laws.

They knew my name and wanted a confirmation of my bday.  I asked for what reason and got nothing.  I was told it was a business issue. I asked for what business and got nothing.  These people, whomever they are, are on thin ice. Leave me alone. Or I will find you. And I will hurt you.  Youre move.

    Industry Tips
    Consumer Rights for Debt Collection
    Debt Collectors Have Rules Too
Would You Really Know if They Crossed the Line?

It's important to know your rights regarding debt collection. Both federal and state laws require businesses and debt collection agencies to follow certain rules. If you believe the agency violated your rights, contact your BBB or the Maryland Collection Agency Licensing Board at (410) 528-8662.

Debt collectors may contact you in person, by mail, telephone or fax. They cannot contact you at unreasonable places or times, or so often it disturbs your daily life. They may not contact you at work if your employer disapproves of personal calls. If the original creditor has released your debt to a third-party collector, you can send a letter by registered mail to request it not contact you at your place of business. By law, the company must comply. Debt collectors may not reveal your debt to anyone except you or your lawyer. They may not threaten violence against you or your property, use obscene or abusive language, or advertise you have a debt.

A debt collection agency may not misrepresent the truth. They cannot use a false company name or creditor name, or release untrue information about you. They cannot insinuate you have committed a crime or that there will be legal repercussions if you do not pay a debt. Within five days of first contacting you, the agency must send you written notice of the amount owed with information about the original business or lender to whom you owed the debt.

If the debt is yours, do not avoid the situation. Some debt collectors have payment plans. Be truthful about your monthly budget. If the agency is willing to cooperate on a payment plan get everything in writing.

However, if you have reason to believe the debt may not be yours, you must send the debt collector a certified letter within 30 days. Include a receipt request and ask for proof of the original bill from the original creditor. Keep copies of all correspondence. In the event of a dispute, inform the company you are doing so, and send a copy of the letter to the MD Collection Agency Licensing Board. It is then the debt collection company's responsibility to prove the debt exists.

This person just called my job and upset my student worker, not permitted here Missy! and she called my cell phone number, I just waiting for her to call back!
Jobs are too hard to come by these days, I will not have this person call the office. If she curses at me I will sue their pants off; there are lawyers available to sue over zealous bill collectors and their company; and get the client compensation.

Why not answer your cell phone or take the call yourself instead of having your poor student worker and answering machine screen your calls? Better yet, since you seem to be a coward and talk a big talk, since you have their number, call them back and see what they want.

I received a call also and when I answered the woman asked for my mother in law and before I could respond she hung up.  I called back and a gentleman answered I let him I know that I just received a call from them and that the person hung up before I had an opportunity to speak with them and let him know that my mother in law passed several years ago.  He "SAID" he will update the records.  Hopefully that will end the calls, we shall see.  He was actually very pleasant.
