Once you put a resume online with one of these job sites such as startwire, monster, indeed, zip recruiter, etc., you WILL get all kinds of spam, via your email and phone.

Without fail, when you are registering at the site and putting in your info, there is a button towards the bottom marked as "CONTINUE.."
The small print under the button states that by clicking the "CONTINUE" button, you AGREE to be contacted by the sites "marketing partners" via email, phone and SMS messaging.

Guess what? Even if you back out of that page they still have your information, and you still wind up dealing with the aluminum siding and encyclopedia sales calls. This happens even if you clicked "NO"
in response to any of the offered services, such as educational opportunities, "free" credit reports, or whatever. These online job search engines aren't just data-mining, they are strip-mining data and selling it off for pennies per person. With tens of millions of people looking for just a job or maybe a better job, so they can be moving on up to that deluxe apartment in the sky, the money runs into thousands of dollars a day.

One last thing. STOP DOING THOSE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" SURVEYS!! About 10-15 years ago, you might have gotten one of those "special" receipts every 8th, 12th or 15th time you went to some place like Red Lobster, Applebee's or Olive Garden. Now EVERYBODY gets a "special" receipt, every time they buy so much as a small order of fries at BK or a frosty at Wendy's. This isn't about customer satisfaction, it's about amassing enough data about everyone so that ALL of your routines can be mapped.out and tracked. Do you really think they care if you've driven a Ford lately or which side of the "Less Filling, Tastes Great" debate you support when it"s Miller Time?

My phone's voicemail was apparently put on hold when they called my number. (my phone was off) You can tell it is a call center (lots of background noise). At one point- A prerecorded message camo on "a trained rep will be with you shortly"
Seems my phone hung up (on them) at that point! lol

Yes this number keeps. Calling me many times a day. Grrrrr.

Ashley from Education Advising Center, asking me if it was possible for me to go back to school within the next 3 months. I said yes and she began her sales pitch. I stopped her saying that I wasnt interested however. She thanked me for my time and hung up. Number added to my block list.

They're one of those "can you hear me OK" scams that have been prevalent lately. I get a call or two from them every day under different numbers and occasionally the same person using an alias. I hate these [***]!
