I am a student at the University of Pittsburgh, and whenever I receive a call from a University phone (instructors, my boss at my work study job, etc), this number pops up.

Though a lot of UPMC Presby numbers have a 647 prefix the false UPMC number is actually 412-802-3XXX.

this number has called my mobile over four times in the past two months.

Someone at this number calls about 7 times a week. Sometimes several times a day. They never leave a message. One day my husband answered and they asked for me by name. My husband asked if he could take a message and they said no they will call back.

This number has been calling me every single day for the past week. I always miss it because I'm at work but they never leave a message.

This could be ANYONE at the University of Pittsburgh.  They often use this generic 412-624-4444 when the University of Pittsburgh phone system doesn't have the actual number.

My daughter goes to UPJ this is one of the #'s they use asking for donations....like the$20,000.00 + they get from her isn't enough! We also get regular letters,donate to this or that,send your child a gift basket,yada yada yada.Once again we supply her with what she needs!

UPMC is the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  They are doing clinical studies on depression.  The University is looking for participants to experiment with new FDA drugs

As has been said, this could be pretty much anyone from the University of Pittsburgh. In my case, it was someone calling about my application.

This number just called me twice. I picked up once didn't say anything and noone said anything.

That's the University of Pittsburgh routing service.   If anyone from any building in the university calls, it shows up as that number.  If my boss calls me, it shows up as this, and if a friend from a different lab calls from work it also shows up as this

The Do Not Call list has certain exemptions "The do not call provisions do not cover calls from political organizations, charities, telephone surveyors, or companies with which a consumer has an existing business relationship."

got a call from this number at 5:45 pm on sunday afternoon. didn't answer. caller id said univ of pitt. won't contribute. hope they don't call again

This is a bunch of kids from U. Pitt working the phone lines to solicit $$$$ donations from alumni, faculty, staff, parents of students, etc. to support the multi-billion dollar empire.   You know, the kind of call you get  because of the fact that they know you are leading a barely middle-class existence, they immediately suggest a $1,000 donation from you.  Great stuff - tell them you're not interested, want to be removed from their call list, and then hang up.

The got my number as a vet from US Army wanting to pay me to do a study.  they offered me $50 to answer some questions....I didn't do it.  They call every single day now.

I get this call on our land line and I beleive it nothing but a scam.
