Received call 11/4/2013 on my cell phone.  Just won a free trip to the Bahamas (like that is going to happen..really) I hung up.  I usually do not answer calls I do not know; but am having some trouble at home and trying to get help with the problem...so I answered...now more trouble will begin.  

GOT A CALL-DIDN'T ANSWER IT-NO VOICEMAIL LEFT-CALLED BACK FROM LANDLINE, RANG ONCE THEN FAST BUSY.

It's very hard not to answer calls.  I use a Trac phone and each time I answer a call it takes up a minute. I am unemployed right now, so a lot of online applications with unknown phone numbers. I figure if a job is calling they will leave a message. I have been told that if you answer the call or call back, it sets it up so the spammers know that the phone number is current and in use. Use caution when answering any unknown calls or calling back.

I agree with you about calling these numbers back. It only confirms that you are willing to entertain them and could very well increase calls from other sources.
Having said that, there are also those that spoof their numbers by displaying false caller id information. The numbers could either be out of service or connected to somebody that has nothing to do with the actual call itself.

I received a call from this number earlier. Based on other comments it sounds like another bogus vacation offer.

Trust me they aren't calling for Keith Taylor.  They don't know the owner of the phone number they called.  They are calling to learn if the number dialed is a working number.  Then they sell that number to thousands of spammers, scammers, pond scum etc.  They are preying on you to learn who you are, and how they can rip you off and how easy it will be.  I no longer answer the telephone if I do not know the name on the caller ID.  They can call 100+ times a day (24/7) for all I care, and they will only get a very dull, generic answering machine.  Nothing to identify the number or names of anyone attached with that number.  Our home number is unpublished and unlisted so anyone that we have not provided the number to is randomly dialing numbers (robo) and will NEVER get a response to their call when the call our number.  There is one number that has been calling here every 3 to 4 days since Sep 30th.  They get the same response every single time and they have no idea who the number they are calling belongs to.  We don't know who they are and don't give a rat's behind who they are.  We just ignore the phone and go on about our business as usual.  It is their dime and their time, not ours.

I can cite you all at least 10 bogus phone numbers for this group of scum that have been calling here for the past 6 months.  I block each of their phone numbers so they never get through to us. They try to get through and the phone system cuts them off and tells them we are not accepting phone calls from them.  So they come up with a phone number that gets through and I block it.  I love the game and they NEVER get to try to scam us.  Got to love the caller ID system and the number blocking option.  Keep trying scum you loose before you start with us!  HA HA!!!!!!!!

No name on caller ID. Left no message. I blocked any future calls from this number.

Called today, didn't know who it was so I didn't answer. They left no voicemail.

Did'nt answer as I don't know anyone in the 414 area.  Strongly suspect spam.

Called my cell phone and left a voice mail. I won a free cruise if I took a short survey.  Um....no!

Idiots called me @ 6am this morning! I had just gotten to sleep.

As has been said by others I never answer a call that does not have a caller ID name attached.  After letting it ring thru I check the number here and almost always see that it is SPAM.  Thanks for all the messages people.   :)

My next step is to add the number to my iPhone directory under the contact name POOR MARY, there are over 50 numbers already listed.  The next time I get a call from that number I take a quick look and say 'awww POOR MARY'

I do agree with the message about not picking up any unidentified caller as this confirms your number is a working number and will be sold to every POOR MARY who'll pony up for the next badge of numbers to SPAM to.

Left no voice mail.  Glad I found these posts because I have family with same area code and was worried some type of family emergency happening and somebody trying to reach me.

Cute response, but often there's nobody there for a reason - it's an autodialler, and it's only set up to see if someone answers or not. If you pick up, or your answering machine gets it, the log idicates it's a real number. May also be true if it goes thru to a real voicemail.

got this last night at 7:44pm, didn't answer, they let no voicemail,

this # showed up, didn't answer, no message left,PFFH!

Recorded message offering a "free cruise to the Bahamas" in return for answering a survey.  Clearly a scam.
