I guess the scammers got tired of us laughing at their thick Indian accents. They have been calling for months trying to convince us they are the IRS and we are in serious trouble for fraud. We told them to call us back when they learned to speak English that we could understand. So now they have robo recording telling us it is the IRS and we are in trouble for fraud. LOL "Officer Julie "Robo Smith" isn't much more intelligible than the foreigners who have been calling for months. I had to listen to the message twice to figure out what she was saying. Needless to say, it's all a scam. I won't be calling back.
    • Caller: Scammers don't have a company. Too lazy to work.

Well, I guess "Officer Julie Smith" From the IRS has another new number.  WOW!  Wonder how many Julie Smiths work for the IRS and why they keep using new numbers.....one in each state?  Hmmmm....

    Getting tired of this BS!

Yup - same here; on my voice message: same phone number, same "Julie Smith", same ominous threat, same lack of specific information regarding myself.  My understanding is the I.R.S. goes after you via the mailbox, first.  Ignore it and delete it.

I received a call from 415-234-9569 on Saturday morning at 10 AM on October 11, 2014.   Since I was having ligation in U.S. tax court, I called back at 10:15 AM on October 11, 2014 to ask for Julie or Joel Smith as I could not distinguish on my answering machine.  I asked the man who answered the phone if this was the Internal Revenue Service.  His reply was yes.  I asked the man  if this was the Internal Revenue Service of the United States.  He replied yes again.  I told that I was unaware the IRS worked on Saturday morning. The man told me we work here all the time.  The recording stated to have the attorney of record call back to this number.  I told the man that I would have my attorney contact his office.  The man’s reply was that they do not speak with attorneys:  TOO FUNNY!!!
I called back the next Tuesday at 4PM California time, where a man put me on hold for 5 minutes so I hung up and contacted the real IRS.
I reported these events to Special Agent Joel Smith (Missouri) who is a criminal investigator of the IRS.  S.A. Joel Smith told me that this was a scam and to report this to TIGTA in Washington, DC at (800)366-4484
I informed S.A. Joel Smith that his was worse than tax evasion as these people are taking money from people who happen to be behind on their taxes, then receive no credit for paying their real taxes due and owing.

    From:

The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information. This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels.

If you get a call or any other type of communication from the "IRS", STOP!
Get as much info from them, without proving any of your own info, and hang up. NOTE: A real IRS agent will gladly answer your questions and advise you to double check using a legit IRS contact to verify, a scammer will claim you must pay now or go to jail.
Contact the real IRS and find out if it was legit.

Thanks for this message board so I could Google the number after I received the same robo call falsely claiming to be the IRS.   As it is a criminal offence to impersonate Federal officials including the IRS, who needs to do what to put these people behind bars where they belong?

Yesterday I received a call on my cell phone stating that a "Jerry?" Smith from the Internal Revenue Service was calling from 415-234-9569, and then stated that I should "return the call before we take any action against you.  Thank you and take care."  The message was garbled and unclear...very poor quality.  Obviously this is not the Internal Revenue Service.  And the Thank you and take care was in total contrast to the rest of the 'threatening' tone of the message.

Where should I report this scam?
