IRS Scam Call... left message to call same number back... Scam calls are getting heavy this time of year...

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Received call from this number saying they were the IRS

called them back and called them out on their scam. The woman just exclaimed "really, really?" And then hung up. Don't think it's the irs.

Got a call from this number said that she the I.r.s. can't be them . Got no letters in the mail.  And they will come to your job or garnish your wages. if the IRS is looking for you they're going to find you.everybody knows that.

Scam phone call threatening IRS action

Automated voice mail left at 10:41am. “Hi officer Julie Smith from internal revenue service and the hotline to my division is 415-234-9612. I repeat it's 415-234-9612. Don't disregard this message and do return the call before we take any action against you. Goodbye and take care.”

She didn't state who in our household was to call the hotline so no one will be calling her hotline.

What does someone look to gain by such telephone calls?

Just got this call as well and the same lady left me a message saying if I did not call within 48 hrs severe action would be held against me. The same number too 415-234-9612 and my phone gives me the location that the number is from California. I am not in any obligations with the IRS...so i just would like these people to stop calling me and ruining my day!

I got the same call twice from Julie Smith today and it seemed automated. I called tge number back out of curiosity and someone answered and said it was IRS. Its a scam call, I've received similar call last year but that time it was a make voice

I just received the same call from the same phone number. When I called back, an Indian-accent-speaking woman gave me a bogus "Case Number" and said that, because I did not respond to a Certified Mail notice, they wanted a contact number for my attorney or would send a sheriff out to my house this evening to arrest me.

She did not give me an amount of the IRS debt, but said that they would take all my money, put liens on any accounts, garnish my wages and freeze my passport for 10 years.

I checked the true IRS website and said that they NEVER make these kind of call and have a very deliberate written notification process, and that these kinds of threats are a sure sign of a scammer. I have had issues with the IRS and I am very familiar with their procedures.

I referred this to my Tax Consultant, and they agree. They are in the process of verifying that it is a scam and will contact the IRS to make them aware.

I just got a call from the same number... I called it back some guy with a thick middle eastern accent answered the phone.... I could hear lots of people in the background, like a telemarketer.  He read me a list on charges from the IRS that were totally false.  I knew right away this was a scam. I finally cut the guy off and said "I know this is B.S"  He said " If you knew this was B.S why did you waste my time?" Then hung up.  Tis the Season for scumbags and scams.  Be careful.

Received multiple calls from the same number showing Novato, CA. I finally called back and a woman with an Indian accent answered as Internal Revenue Service with a lot of background callers. I asked for proof that she was with the IRS and she said she was not required to prove that and hang up.

Same robo-call from Julie Smith. Called back and guy with middle-eastern accent answered the phone with "Internal Revenue Service" and said that Julie Smith was one of the people working for him. Asked for my case number which I didn't have. Asked for my Tax ID, which, of course I wouldn't give him. Then he asked for my name and I gave him one. Then he said that I wasn't the person they were looking for and hung up.

I received an auto-mated call from 425-234-9612. My line 281-240-9225 has been on the NO-Call_List.

Also this message claimed is from IRS.

I received the same 2 messages from automated Officer Julie Smith from the IRS stating I must call her back.  I did not and will not return this call.  These scammers should find a real job!  Called from number - 415-234-9735 and 415-234-9612.

Just hang up calls... Say nothing
