I'm assuming its a scam, but how did they get my number?? Facebook?

I got a the same text message from a different number to call a different number!

I am assuming it was FB.  I followed a FB link that lead to something fishy.  Now I know.

I got the exact same message, but I don't have my number anywhere on facebook.

I got the same exact message, with a different 800 number for the prize claiming. who the F is it, and where the F did they get my digits? I haven't even put my new number on FB at all, so that's a dead end hunch. idk

i got the same message and it was to claim a $20 wal-mart giftcard and a $50 gas card. it said to call 877-399-7795. what is this? i was even a little nervous to open the message... i also don't have my number on fb.

it's paige again. i forgot to mention that at the beginning of the text it said 'thnx richard'. i'm not richard and there is no one in my family by that name...

I don't have my phone number on Facebook and have not filled out any forms or visited any unusual websites recently.  The fact that my name was included makes it puzzling and slightly more concerning.

Interestingly enough, I don't post my number to FB either.  Got the same message (call 877-399-7795)

Got the same text others have mentioned. I don't have my number listed on any social network website so I'm guessing it may just be a random number generator.

Does anyone know how to prevent this? I don't post my number anywhere and I got the same exact text message. I called that 1-877-676-1511 from my home phone and it rang once and went on a busy dial... O_O

i just got a text msg from that number on my business cell phone, which is not published on any public site. it said to call 888-480-0213 for a $100 walmart card - this is the second time i've gotten one of these texts.

I also received this text message.  My number is not listed on FB.  

The message says: Thanks 4 Visiting Our Website Please Call 888-480-0213 To Claim Your $100 Walmart Gift Card Voucher! Reply STOP 2 Unsub

I received a similar text message as Angie today 8/13. It was from 415-373-8156. The call balck number is 877-479-9801.  Obviously deleting it.

I got the same message and like an idiot called to find out who and what it was.  It's a magazine subscription call center.  I'm on the Do Not Call List.  How did they get my number?

I got the same message twice, and reported it to the National Do Not Call Registry 2 times.  I got rid of "Rachel" and now this!

They kept saying they were part of a company in Pheonix Arizona called "Everyday Shoppers" and would provide me with a name of the person (my case, Lisa that obviously had a heavy indian accent) and her ID number which means nothing.

She kept asking why I didn't want to do it when I just bluntly said i think this is a scam and I don't trust it. She started getting irritated. :)

And I asked how they got my number. Apparently they change their numbers up.

DO NOT USE THIS. Probably a scam, like 100000% sure :D

Either way, my privacy is worth way more than $70 potentially. :P

They said they would only charge $2 and that they would get a verbal recording of my approving it. Blah. Bad people, and apparently outsourced :P

The number they texted me from was 415-373-8156.

And they refused to get a prepaid card too. =P
OH! Also I could not call back she said it was a one time offer. Funny huh?

Text read as follows:

Maybe this will help - I'm with Sprint and I used to be ATT.

Could be from Android Apps too.

They also had the gall to say I was one of 20 people that won in my area ;)

Text message on a cell phone that is on the do not call list. My number has not been put on facebook or any other site that I know of.

My cell provider has blocked this number for me.

Got the same "Thx 4 Visiting Our Site Call 877-220-2710 To Claim Your $20 Wal-Mart Card Plus $50 Gas Card! Reply STOP 2Unsub" message- the area code for 415 is near San Fransisco.
