I don't answer calls I don't recognize and these people never leave a message.  My phone also said it was from SNFC MT EV CA.  I worked for the VA for 25 years and know that most of these veterans groups doing fundraising this way are crooks.  They keep 80 to 90% of the donated money after complaining how the government is doing nothing to help them.  The other charities such as the firefighters and FOP do the same thing.  I know because I have called the fire department and police asking about fund raising and this is what they told me.

The law should allow us citizens to  harass and bother people like this just as they do the same to us!!!!!!! Enough, "beloved"congressmen!!!

I took the call as described in the posts above and let the caller make his pitch for a donation. At each point where he expected an agreement I replied "no". He suggested a different form of contribution encouraging me to think of the needs of the alleged veterans. I simply replied "no"..and he said "very well, goodbye"

My point is I gave him no information, no agreement and no donation and I let him spend his time and energy on a "non-response" target

They called me today and no one said anything but I could hear heavy breathing.  Gross!

Only info that came through was that the call was from San Francisco.

I also got the call, but I didn't mind the call, Why, because I bought a Digitone Call Blocker.  www.digitone.com The first time they call, it rings my phone and the call comes through. I then block the number and the next time they call, my phone doesn't even ring and the blocker hangs up on them. You can even block entire area codes. I have it setup to block any incoming calls with the 855 area code. The blocker keeps track of all calls, good and bad ones. Then I like to check to see who got hung up on just for fun like I am now.

No need to buy anything. Just don't answer calls from unknown numbers.  Blocking phone numbers is futile because the numbers are frequently spoofed and change constantly.  Check your caller ID log and return calls that interest you.

I agree with you totally. I would never give to telemarketer. If they want a contribution they can send something in the mail where it can be studied, and not where you are pressured to donate on the spot. Worse yet, most of the callers are not veterans, police, firefighters etc., but paid telemarketers whose salaries eat up most of the contributions.
