I gave them my name, what can they do with that info?

I live in NC and got the same call from Nikki Johnson.....it was a computer generated recording and I googled the phone number - I knew it was a scam.  tried calling them back- was gonna play along with them for a bit to see what I could get from them then give them a set of language that I'll bet they've never heard from down east NC!   Good for nothing sorry sons of [***]....  If they call back I am gonna screw with them pretty good....Gonna tell them my name is Gomer Pyle and I didn't pay Mayberry taxes last year.....

Got a call this morning and it was an automated woman voicemail she sounded american. All I got out of it was time sensitive info, and IRS. I thought it was something to do with my school loans or something. I called back the guy who had an American name but an Arabic accent asked me my name and then my social. I said it pretty fast because I was driving he asked me to repeat and then I said wait why do you need my social and what is this call pertaining to exactly. He said I hadn't paid my taxes. I said yes I have and don't call back again. And I hung up. Then as I thought about it the madder I got so I called back and I said my name and asked why I got the voicemail he said you haven't paid your taxes I said yes I have. And they hung up. My aunt works for the IRS she said that this number is a fraudulent number. I reported them to the authorities in Washington DC. Once I got back home my mom called the number from her phone. We proceeded to act oblivious that this was a fraudulent number. They tried to tell me I owed back taxes from each year since '12. So I politely told the man I didn't even file taxes in '12 because I was a dependent. So then he took it to the level of saying I was going to be arrested on Friday and so I asked him what is my address if you have my tax information it should say all of my personal info and if I did owe money I'd turn myself in today. He then in turn proceeded to cuss me and say F you B and everything. So once I hung up I called the sherrif while on the phone with the sherrif they called 10 times from a different number but still a Cali number . I usually don't answer numbers that I don't know or from other states but from now on I'll answer see who it is and if it's someone like that they will be getting an earful from an air horn or whistle. I will be doing a credit check in a week and continuing routine ones just because I'm that type of person since I've been getting these calls. I'm a single mom of 2 and nursing student I can't have someone stealing my money.

I've gotten calls about Microsoft support as well I always hang up as soon as they say that because I know I don't have computer issues. They called pretending to be the IRS so I asked questions that I felt someone from the IRS would know and he proceeded to cuss me and call m everything under the sun. Then after I hung up and called the sherrif they called back from another number. Next time they call I'm gonna have a little fun experiment with an air horn and how well an ear drum can hold up to one

They told me the same thing today!!! I told him if I was being arrested what was my address etc because if they had my tax info they obviously had it. And I told him I'd go to the sherrif station to turn myself in and then I'd call him back and he proceeded to cuss me. I actually called the sherrif and he told me blow a whistle in their ear. They called back but from a different number. But they have all been from Cali.

Can the FCC stop these "IRS" fraud (threatening to do harm unless receiver gives money), harassing phone calls?  This number also originates from CA.

I received a call from this number and spoke with a man who identified himself as Mark Victor.  He said he was with the Internal Revenue Service and that I was being sued and that there was a warrant out for my arrest in reference to a tax return.  The man had a thick accent and when I asked to speak with something who spoke clearer English, he became rude and hung up on me.  I tried calling back to see if I could speak with someone else and got hung up on again.  I then called my accountant who informed me that it was a hoax/scam.  He said it was nation wide.
I don't understand why the REAL IRS can't find these idiots and arrest them!!!!   It was my understanding that impersonating a member of the federal government was really a felony.

the same man with a middle eastern accent so heavy  I could barely understand him and had to keep asking him to repeat himself called me asked me if I had a lawyer because the IRS was suing me the scary thing is he had my name and address
I told him I know the IRS only contacts people by mail. He hung up but have got 2 calls a day since this morning it was at 5am San Francisco time I called back and said quit calling this number he said f**k you and hung up! I blocked the number (415-799-9609)  and filed a report on the FCC website! I to worry about the people who fall for this [***], the other day I received a call saying my Bank of America card had been compromised I don't have or never have had a BoA card, I'm going back to not answering numbers I don't know!

Got call from Indian speaking male. Said he was from the IRS. I called IRS and reported this. He even had a call back number that went to the IRS the second time he called. Claiming I was being sued.

This just happened to me too!!  I got an Indian male calling me telling me I would be sued by IRS.

I received a phone call from (415) 799-9609 this afternoon (California Area Code), 16 July 2015. I answered the call thinking it might be someone in my military unit for whom I had not saved a phone number. When I answered the phone it was an automated female voice notifying me of an IRS lawsuit of some kind being levied against me, and that I needed to call them back ASAP to prevent further action.

Alarmed by this, I immediately called the same number and was greeted by an Indian or Pakistani sounding male, who identified himself as (first name unknown) Johnson and an investigator with the IRS. He said there was a lawsuit against me and that a Sherrif would be meeting me at my home to arrest me, take me to prison for a sentence of 5 years and 3 years of house arrest. He also stated that all of my properties and assetts would be frozen.

As a "relatively" intelligent person I began to ask logical questions about the lawsuit, upon which Mr. Johnson interrupted me and began to ridicule me. If I didn't know something fishy was going on then, I did by this point, but I was still panicking. He hung up on me and said he'd be seeing me in prison. He never once asked me for any information, but he did claim to have my current address, but it was an address from more than 10 years ago.

Because these related posts seem to be within the past month, I can only assume this was part of the recent data breach with OPM and other agencies and businesses. I would recommend others to remain calm, and report the incident with the IRS. I am on hold with the IRS as I type this message.

Same as everyone else.  Foreign lady leaves multiple automated calls on my machine and  says she's Micky Johnson from IRS.  Folks, here's a scam primer--I'm a consumer rights attorney so I've seen this crap before.  First, the IRS doesn't call at strange times.  Second, the IRS doesn't call.  They write.  The IRS doesn't threaten.  They just show up.  The IRS doesn't threaten state prison. They are Federal.  And they are usually relatively nice and straight forward when they contact you by mail for very specific information about one specific item on a filed tax return.  The IRS doesn't ask for your information--they already know it.  And that's the most important part. Never give information over the phone to somebody you don't know or to a call you yourself have not initiated.  Google any number you are given.  It will tell you a lot.

Same IRS call as everyone else.  Everyone should post everywhere to flood them with calls. Make it as hard as possible.
