- andy838i've received several calls from (416) 000-XXXX numbers in the past week or so....havn't picked up each time, but i've read that maybe people are using sites like kijiji and craigslist to get our numbers when we're trying to sell something...could be true....maybe just tell people to email you from now on and give contacts to legit people.
- TheRascalKing| 1 replyI have received a few calls from this number telling me my car warranty was about to expire. I am four years into a five year warranty so I finally "pressed 1" just to be sure.
When I got a real person they immediately asked for some personal information. I then asked "Which company is this for?".
They said "Warranty Services".
I asked "Which car company?"
"Warranty services"
"WHICH CAR MANUFACTURER?"
"Warranty services"
"Why are you calling me?"
"Your warranty is about to expire."
"How do you know that? You don't know what kind of car I have! Maybe I just bought a 2009."
"Sir, we will remove you from our calling list"
Then I hung up.

- YammerOK, myself and some co-workers have been talking about this for a few weeks. I've gotten a number of calls from them but always go to voicemail. Today, I took the call. They didn't know what vehicle I had and had to ask. I asked the company name and they are apparently called The Choice. So while talking to the rep she gets my odometer reading and says that is quite high (69,000... really?) and goes on to say my factory warranty expired after 60k. It didn't. 5 year/100k and on top of that I have an extended warranty. She starts giving me information on how that ex.warranty isn't good and I should get theirs but because I am over their 60k limit she needs approval first. Her supervisor comes on and says sure (that was fast!) and she tells me how payment works. Then asks for a credit card number. I laughed and called it a scam. She called back! Said its not a scam and I mentioned this site and how my city's newspaper (Edmonton Journal) wrote about it and she told me to shut my mouth! And then says I NEED this warranty now and give her a credit number. I laughed and hung up again.

- MoFoI get this phone call at least 10 times a week and it is ticking me off!!!
It ALWAYS says this is the 2nd warning about your car warranty.
I don't HAVE a car warranty, I own a used car.
How is it that the 50th phone call is still the 2nd warning? Can something not be done about this? It's ridiculous.
I was afraid by hitting 1 they would hack my phone or something but if pressing 1 gets me a person I will do that next time so I can tell them to *^#$@ OFF!!!!!! - henryIrratating, Irratating, Irratating. When will governments and enforcement offices get ahead of the technology that allows this nonsense to get worse every day. These individuals doing this are pure evil in every way. They will never stop as long as the are one step ahead of the law.

- alley replies to sid| 1 replyhow do I get these darn companies to stop calling me? is there a way to track them with out wasting my day!
just wondering if anyone else has been able to stop receiving these calls
thanks - RandyI too have had the same calls but have ignored them, assuming what you have verified. I intend to contact the CRTC or perhaps some branch of the law because I too feel that what they are doing is criminal. I would encourage as many as possible to do the same thing.
- Car GuyI work for a major manufacturer and have been getting the same calls as have hundreds of customers and have investigated this company. This is an aftermarket warranty company from the US that has moved its sights into Canada. They are randomly calling numbers and have none of your personal info or car information. They are trying to sell you an independent aftermarket warranty. They are very deceptive in their presentation making it sound like the manufacturer is calling you informing you of your warranty expiring and requiring urgent action. This is never the case. It is simply very aggressive marketing on their part. They are quick to say that any dealer or independent repair shop will honor their plan and it will save you thousands. That is simply not true. Unlike factory purchased extended warranties, most of these companies are very difficult to get work authorization for and a battle to get paid. Most garages will require you to pay for the repair then fight for a refund from the company. Ask your mechanic/dealer/garage how much aggrivation there is dealing with aftermarket warranty companies and if they will honor any of their warranty and you will be surprised by their answer. If you find anyone who says yes, let us know! They often pay for partial repairs, require you to preauthorize tear down and diagnosis, require you follow the maintenance in your owners manual precisely keeping all records and can default if you miss an oil change or other major service. They may use new/rebuilt or used parts and remove the vehicle from a particular facility if they are unwilling to accomodate these requests for them. If you are thinking about buying one of their plans.....READ THE FINE PRINT. It is not nearly as good as it sounds. Further..ask your dealer/garage/mechanic for an opinion on it before you purchase. If they won't honor it....what good is it! As well beware.....the contract is only as good as the viability of the company. Should they go broke...you have no recourse. Your money is gone. You are far better off to either return to your manufacturer and buy a factory plan, or, take the money you are thinking of spending on the plan and put it in a bank account for future repairs. Chances are very good you will end up selling your car with most of that money still there.

- Gillian replies to alleyI finally picked up and listened to the recording past "your vehicle" (I don't even own a car) pressed whatever number directed me to an agent, who I had to ask to stop talking so I could get a word in and let him know he was calling a cell phone. I haven't gotten a call since.
