- TrishThis number called me several times so I decided to call back. She answered saying it was RBC. She asked me to confirm my name. When I asked what the name was that she was looking for She said because this is an account with RBC I need you to confirm the name. Point is she didn't have my name. Very sketchy, I told her I wasn't interested and hung up.

- .Received several calls from this number, multiple times a day for weeks. When I called the number to inquire about why I’ve been receiving these calls she wanted to confirm my first and last name. When I asked who they were looking to speak with, she could not provide a name and asked again for my first and last name. I told her I was aware this is a scam and that her number is flagged a fraud and she could not hang up the phone fast enough.

- Mike| 1 replyThis is a central line to a number spoofing scam.
I received calls from many different 647 numbers once per day. Some said they were from Rogers. Every time I told them never to call again, but they kept calling. Every time the call ended, callback was impossible, leading to a message stating the line was out of service. Then yesterday I got a call of the same nature, but this person was from "Telus". Now I was on to the scent and ready for the next call if it came.
Then today I received another call from a random 647 and picked up, said hello but nothing else, and heard nothing on the other side. Eventually the guy hung up. I then checked my call history and noticed that all the spoofed numbers from days past had changed and were all pointing to this number.
I called back *this* number and got through. The person picked up IMMEDIATELY and said they were "Mike" from "Famtel". I stayed silent, and he eventually hung up. I called back again, it was IMMEDIATELY picked up again without so much as a ring, and he said the same thing, paused, and then eventually said "Hello?"
At this point I asked who he was and he said he was "Mike from Famtel on behalf of RBC calling with an "offer"". I asked if it was the same offer I had received from unreachable "Telus" and "Rogers" reps that had called me from the same spoofed numbers for days prior, and he said nothing. I detailed the last few days and what had transpired, and he continued to stay silent but never dropped the call.
At this point I told him I was going to the police to report him and I am on my way to do just that. After that call ended, I was unable to call back, immediately getting a recorded message saying it's "Canada Direct on behalf of RBC", asking you to leave your personal information so they can call you back.
If and when they uncover who this person is, I will ask to be notified and I will then sue for the $1500 that he would be charged for spam/fraud calling someone on the national do not call list, plus extra for my time. I suggest everyone in the Toronto area do the same.- Caller: Some guy in a basement

This number also shows as "suspected fraud" when it calls you directly.
This means I had already blocked this number to scams a full year ago and not only did they not stop trying to call, but once they were blocked and reported by too many people which started showing up on people's phones, they started spoofing.
