I have the same or similar phone I bought at Sam's Club - I was able to keep the blocked calls from ringing at all. (The phone display does light up briefly to display the blocked number). Go to the call block menu and "navigate" around until you find the "First Ring" setting. You can select "off" to keep the phone from ringing. Hopefully this will work for you.

The Canadian Pharmacy calls me at least once a day from some number I've been unable to block. There have been other numbers. They never leave a message but if you pick up they reverse connect you to a live operator in a manner that looks like they use an auto dialing computer with a database.
Calls come anytime from 7:00AM to 8:30pm for over 5 years now.
This is harassment, Canada pharmacy calls all day starting at 9am and up to 10pm eastern. When I ask them to stop calling they laugh.

This company says they are Canadian company but I asked them where their products are made. He said India.  They call constantly

Blocking only works for a while, as they're spoofing the phone number.  They'll just change it next week or next month.  As far as the DoNotCall list -- what a waste of tax dollars!

Changed number thru AT&T ,assured me phone calls should stop,within 30 mins they started again

I never answer my home phone, the answering machine always answers all calls. if I am at home I can hear the machine if it is someone I know.  The companies your don't want to talk to never leave a message, so you don't have to remove any messages.
