- Sm| 1 replyI installed Win 10 and made the mistake of trying to contact Microsoft via a Google search I reached a site which looked like Microsoft. I called the number and to make a long story short it was a scam. I was able to remove several viruses and other nasty bugs. Now they are trying to contact me to further their nastiness. They have been blocked. Beware of a site even thou they look real.
- mah| 1 replyKeep getting calls from Chattanooga Tn., phone #423-414-2535 . I do not answer when they call. They keep calling so tonight I answered and the man had an foreign accent like Indian I think) and started to talk about my computer so I told him never to call this number again I am on a no call list. Next time I will report him. Those phone calls are so harassing and very annoying. I know it is nothing but a scam and I wish there was some way that the authorities can trace them and arrest all these people that try to scam the innocent. He did not name the company only something about windows on my computer.

- PatBack in September I started receiving calls from this number. The dialect of the person sounded Indian. He identified himself as a Microsoft technitian saying my computer was infected with dangerous malicious ware. He asked to take control of my computer but I did not allow. He became angry and hung up on me. Since that time I receive at least four calls from this number each day; as early as 8am and as late as 9pm. Since I recognize the number, I never answer it and no message is left. Today, after receiving three calls in two hours, I finally blocked the number.
- DHBIndian accent. Said I had a problem with my windows computer. I told him I did not even have a computer. He was quiet and hung up.

- PaulRI've reported on this number before. On November 11, 2015, they called twice, but I didn't answer it either time as I thought I recognized it and found my previous post already here. It was a fake Microsoft caller. Glad I didn't pick it up as I'm really getting tired of these fakes.

Thank you for your e-mail to Chairman Tom Wheeler regarding a telephone scam.
While there are many legitimate companies that use the telephone for marketing, consumers and business lose millions of dollars to telemarketing fraud each year. It's sometimes hard to tell the difference between reputable telemarketers and criminals who use the phone to rob people. You can protect yourself by learning how to recognize the danger signs of fraud. If you are a victim or attempted victim of telemarketing fraud, it's important to report the scam quickly so that law enforcement agencies can shut the fraudulent operation down.
Some of the various telemarketing scams are:
-Government Grants - Nigerian Money
-Loan Applications -Business Opportunities
-Fake Check Scams -Credit Card Loss Protection
Remember: The government doesn't telephone people offering money. Most credit card companies offer loss protection for free. Offers of business opportunities that are too good to be true usually are. Fake Check Scam is similar to Nigerian scam- callers are offering to pay for something you are selling via a third party because they are in another country or they are in another country and need an advance, etc.
You can file complaints about various scams with the FTC or your state Attorney General or consumer protection agency. For information on how to file complaints with the FTC, visit the FTC Web site at www.ftc.gov or call toll free at 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261.
Contact information for your state Attorney General's office or consumer protection agency usually can be found in the blue pages of your telephone directory.
You may want to put a fraud alert on your credit report if you feel they are trying to steal your identity.
Victims of identity theft may contact the fraud departments of the three major credit bureaus, report the theft and ask that a "fraud alert" be placed on their file and that no new credit be granted without their approval:
Equifax: 1.800.525.6285
Experian: 1.888.397.3742
Trans Union: 1.800.680.7289
Contact you're bank to make them aware there is a scam. Also, contact your local law enforcement regarding the threats and notify your local newspaper so they can get the word out to other consumers that there is a scam in your area.
I hope this information has been helpful.
Thank you

- ElliesbeeI received a call today from 423-414-2535 the caller ID read Chattanooga Tennessee. I knew it was a scam call but I decided to answer the phone anyway to find out exactly what the purpose of the call was for . After I said hello - I heard background noise -then I said hello again and finally a young man with an accent wished me a good morning and proceeded to tell me I had a problem with my computer. I proceeded to tell him and no uncertain terms that I in fact did not have a computer problem, because I do not own any computers. I told him to take my name off the list and that I had his number on my caller ID and that I am going to report this number to authorities. I am sure that I will be receiving calls from that number in the future as they are not afraid of anything, however, I just feIt that I needed to vent and this poor man was on the receiving end !! That is the risk you take for being a scammer !!

- JimEvery day I get a call from Consumer Assistance at 248-215-0437---They tell me that this is my last opportunity to lower my interest rate---they say to push 1 for assistance or to push 3 to quit getting calls. Whichever one I push, the person asks if I owe more than $2000---I asked once for her name and she said, "Joy"---I told her to quit calling. So far, that hasn't happened. They call every afternoon.

- missyThese scammers keep calling ME!! I am getting really tired of this. Need to get ahold of Comcast, to help me
block these calls. I made the mistake last year of paying for Virus Protection. Luckaly I was able to get some of

out there, please to no fall for these Scammers. - BillMicrosoft does not call re: problems with Windows.
NEVER, EVER let these folk 'get into' your computer (made that mistake once years ago). Many of these are not JUST scammers... if they get access to your computer, is likely you will be seriously 'hacked', viruses 'planted', and/or identity stolen. - HortensiaThis number was in CID and no message was left. Thanks for the informative posts y'all. A blocking I will go.
