Unfamiliar number from an area code where I don’t know anyone. No person’s or company’s name to identify who was calling. No message left when I didn’t answer. If whomever/whatever is a frequent caller as described above, am blocking it!

The issue I have is with debt collectors s that they are known to harass innocent third parties because they are calling an outdated number. I know this because I’ve gone through it myself.

I think Dish Network has a info leak. This number keeps calling with most all of my info (they have the incorrect state) and want me to verify info and make a payment on an account that isn't in collections. Yet they claim to be a collection agency. I told her i was recording her and when I told her the specifics of my dish account debt she started stumbling over her self. Then tried to convince me she wasn't with a collection agency. Eventually just hung up.

I also get called 6-8 times a day & it's because of a 78.00 direct TV,  for still having boxes. when I cancelled direct TV 3years ago, they were suppose to send boxes to mail their cable boxes back to them. Several times of talking to them over this, they turned me over for collection, I notified Experian & after they verified I was telling the truth it was erased from my credit report.

You are correct. I get debt collector calls all the time for the guy who owned this number before me. Does no good to tell them that. They keep calling.

Called and left no message. I have read others comments, and understand something folks, IF this is a collector they are LEGALLY required to leave a clear message with their name, where they are calling from, and what they are calling for. The FDCPA is quite clear, and ignorance is not an affirmative defense. Forcefully report them to the FTC.

Answering or verifying info doesn't reset the clock.  Only making a payment or payment arrangement.

I think this number's "owner" changes often because It's a rentable scam phone. Today it's a Google listing scam.
