Caller ID says MED    Recorded Message starts "this is not a sales call"  then proceeds to tell you about new medication for pain control......  I hung up

Just got a call from this number, left it go to VM. NO message left. I am on a Do Not Call List.

The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities and companies with preexisting business relationships, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list  is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.

Remember, the Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers.  The DNC list does not cover calls from criminal scammers & spammers.  To report those, visit https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

caller ID listed it as "unknown caller" , no message was left, called 6/20/14

Received call, but did not answer it.  CID was MED.  Based on a previous post by Ed, I googled the American Chronic Pain Association (ACPA) and got their web address:  www.theacpa.org.  On their home page there was an "IMPORTANT ACPA FRAUD NOTICE" stating that since 7/4/14 they had received info that someone was contacting people trying to obtain personal info in order to scam them into making a fraudulent purchase.  

Just put a block on this number. The ID said it was Kirkland W. but never came online. RoboCall I would guess.

"Kirkland, Washington". No message.

CID "Out of Area".  Did not answer, no message left.

I am sick of these calls coming in.  I call back and get put on their Do Not Call list.  I am getting some sort of pre-recorded messages daily.

The caller, V4254069494 ( displayed on our phone as ID.), I opted to answer. The caller did not make any sound. When I returned the call, message to me:"Thank for calling back, if you are not interested in our future calls for promotion, please press 1 & allowed us 72 hours to remove." I'll report it to www.donotcall.gov & www.fcc.gov/complaints. This unwanted number has call many people since 06/17/2014 as above. It always uses other area code & numbers to call us.
