Computer generated voice claimed they were social security and they needed us to call back or the account(?) would be stopped. Scammers, no doubt.

Received same call at 2:25 today with same message. However, it came up as Parkville, MD..

rec'd this call at 10:25 AM calling from SS office call back or my number will be suspended what a joke caller ID shows Robust Inc. SU

caller said my Social Security number had been "suspended".  When I returned the call the Non American voice identified himself as a "Senior Supervisor" and demanded my Social Security #,  I then busted his punk [***] and he immediately hung up......who falls for this [***]???

Scammers are generally stupid and depend on the unsuspecting to fall for their con jobs. Using the parent company name in the caller ID is just an example of an incompetent scam outfit. A little searching found this tidbit;

Many younger people do, because they have never had any reasons to contact Social Security and have no idea what it is for. Of course a lot of older folk do to, thinking it has something to do with their benefits. The SSA doesn't go around calling people "out of the blue" for any reason and so most people are simply oblivious about the SSA and scammers have figured out its a great way to scam people with a very confusing call that initially scares people into calling to find out.
It is because of that I put out this warning:

Scammers don't have a clue how the real SSA works and they are hoping you don't either.
The SSA  doesn't suspend your ssn, file law suits, freeze accounts related to your SSN or issue Arrest Warrants.


The current scheme is they say your SSN is involved with a rental car found in southern Texas, with blood & drugs. Next theres some address they say was raided and discovered several bank accounts used for laundering money under your SSN, so they have to freeze your bank accounts and issue you a new SSN, but you have to secure your accounts by getting some gift cards.

Another variation is "your SSN is misused in Colorado" for money laundering, drugs, etc ......pretty bizare "off-the-wall" stories, its so hard not to laugh at them.

• Only a scammer would leave a message telling you "someone" is using your SSN for criminal activities, then try to say your in trouble for something you didn't do!
• Only a scammer would say "legal enforcement actions".
• Only a scammer is going to call you and demand you pay them over the phone to avoid an Arrest Warrant that doesn't really exist. You would first have to go to Court and disobey a Court Order to get an Arrest Warrant issued. If an Arrest Warrant was issued,  a Sheriff would suddenly show up at your door to serve it, they don't warn you they are coming and they don't put it on hold until you decide what to do.
• Your SSN can't be canceled, revoked or suspended because it is a number assigned to your birth name for Identification purposes, only scammers say it can. It IS your Identity as much as your name is.
• New SSN must be applied for with a misuse report on the old one and its FREE.
• Only scammers ask you to pay using Gift Cards. They are not designed to be a method of payment.

They called at 7:08 AM.  I filed an FTC report.

Caller identified as Social Security Administration.  Caller ID only listed Parkville, Md.  Called 1/10/2020.  Guess I am going to have to get familiar with filing FTC reports.

Received a call from this number at 1:11 PM ET. Same as the other complaints.

Scam call about my SSA of course it’s scam as SSA never calls in fact it’s nearly impossible to phone them. Call was from Parkville MD

Received a call from this number.  Did not answer because did not recognize number.  Message was about my social security number to call them back.  SCAM!!

I received a call from them on Thursday, 1/9/20 in the middle of the day.  I've pasted a transcript of the call below that I found on another site.  The caller ID did show the caller as Robust Inc.  I live in Baltimore (about 4 miles from the Social Security headquarters and have many friends who currently work or have worked there.  They said that SS will never call someone about their account.
