I got the same message. Clearly a scam. Why the hell would an Aflac employee have a yahoo email account instead of a legitimate Aflac email account? Also there are some bad spelling errors in the email I received. I bet it is some Nigerian that will call you back needing information about your bank accounts.

This just makes my blood boil. I received an identical email 5/11/09 which means this has been going on for months. It read like a big scam thanks to the numerous joined words, typos, and the yahoo email account. Reading all these comments only confirmed it.

I have this to say to the people behind this as I'm sure you check to see how many have become wise to you before you have to alter the scam. If you've got any shred of decency in those cold dark hearts of yours take a couple of minutes and read the comments people have left here. I mean really read them. I'm very lucky, I'm only seeking to find a higher paying job. There are people here who are literally running on their last few borrowed bucks and can't spare a single day in their search and you people are robbing them of precious time and possibly their last gallons of gas to come see you for a lost cause. If you've got any empathy or decency at all please stop this. People are hurting enough already without their own neighbors and countrymen kicking them when they are down.

What does an account executive do at Aflac? What specifically do you do?

I am so glad I found all this info. I just listed with careerbuilder.com at about 10 am this morning and 10:35 I received a message to come in for a an interview. I went on line to see how far it is from my house and happened to come across all these notes, I'm so glad I didn't waste my time or gas going all the way out there. I'm sure it's a SCAM......
They're the only company that seems to be contacting so many people & saying the same thing to each of them.

Hi, I just received the same e-mail immediately after I signed up for CareerBuilder.  Honestly, is this a scam and not worth my time?  I would like to know before I agree to an interview and waste my time.  Since they have been sending the same emails for months, it appears as a scam but I don't want to lose out on a possible job opportunity.

Funny, I am Marc Transparenti's Regional Administrator, and I will tell you it is not a scam.  We are looking for people who are interested in sales.  We have many associates that had various background, but with our extensive training program, we are able to give all the things you need to know.

Using a reputable company's name in a scam still makes it a scam. I don't think anyone is question Aflac's integrity. There is a very high probability they aren't even aware their name is being used in this scam. I could slap Microsoft's name on something and pawn it off as some legitimate job opportunity but it doesn't mean that I represent Microsoft and it doesn't mean that I'm being honest and sincere in my job offering. If Marc is a legitimate Aflac employee then he'd be using a legitimate Aflac email address not a free Yahoo account he can ditch if the heat gets to heavy. I know its months after your response but I feel it's imnportant to keep the light on this situation so others don't fall victim and waste their time.

I am a Regional Sales Coordinator with Aflac and have worked with Aflac for 5 years.  The Chicago market is deeply underpenetrated, and Aflac is aggressively hiring to establish a presence in this incredible area.

In reference to my 443 area code- I originally worked in Maryland, and many former colleagues and clients continue to contact me.  If I change my number, there is no forwarding service, so many people will lose my number instantly.  Additionally, now that I have been in the Chicagoland area for the past 2 years, many new people now have my 443 number.  A dilemma!

In reference to my email- If you prefer to use my official Aflac email, it is marc_transparenti@us.aflac.com.  I also have marc.transparenti@gmail.com because of the user friendliness; I like gmails functionality better.  

In reference to our email letter- Aflac is very particular and approved a certain letter that is utilized.  The interview process is much more personal.  Initially, I provide an overview about our position and then in our 2nd interview, we further discuss your background and determine if you will be accepted for the position.  

I understand that many companies out there are not very good, and I applaud you job seekers who are doing your research!  Keep researching Aflac, it is an incredible company!

This is not a scam, I received the same email and went in for the initial 'interview'  It was not until I got to the office that I found out it was a group informational session and the second interview would be a personal interview at a later date.  

Marc is definitely a real legitimate regional coordinator for AFLAC and has a trophy case full of awards from AFLAC to back up his success.  Guess what guys???? He even has Aflac business cards AND an Aflax email address.

It seems like a great opportunity if you are in a position where you can sustain a short term struggle for long term gain with a great company.

It is a scam!!!! unless you go into this knowing that you will be one of as many that will fall for this. Aflac belives in overkill in the market and get the top the money you pound the bricks for. yes you will see a small amount of pay back but, it works like a MLM scam. You will split all comm. with so many people that you don't even see or know!!!! such a scam and misuse of sales force. Great product that pays out, at your expense!!!

A little info on the AFLAC office in Elmhurst, I have worked at that location for 8 weeks. If you work hard, like in the movie Boiler room you can get appointments and make money. Not the money Marc and his associates say is possible. However, the representatives they hire are not the cream of the crop. They consist of laid off desperate white collar workers, minorities looking to make something out of nothing and recent graduates. A smart individual could see when they walk out of the office that something shady is going on. This is a pyramid scheme operation where many managers get a piece of the commission. You can succeed if you work real hard. If you see hopelessness and quit, your hard work goes to the manager to close the sales. You are considered a marketer for the benefit of management. Good scheme for them. Marc is only looking out for his behind.

Got the same email from career builder on a sunday night at ~ 9:00pm.  read these posts.  I'll check it out for real, and try to get back to this post to let you guys know for sure what I think.  I'm going out there on friday Mar 19th.

Wow, I thought I was special when I got the Aflac email, but that's ok I have a real interview with a non-pyramid scheming owner!!! I know Aflac is a good company and they are just using everyone as pawns so they can get paid on there commissions!! Check out Aflac's website there's no job openings in Illinois!!! Same thing here, been at career builder for a while and updated my resume because I'm "again" looking for work.  

Looked interesting because it read "account executive" which didnt really jibe with either my experience, my recent job searches, or recent applications I'd sent.

Seemed off to me, both the email and the timing of it.

So a few years ago (who am I kidding, 20 years ago :)) I replied to a job posting in the local news paper for a $12 hr job, no experience necessary.  So being the desperate teen I was, figured I'd go and see.  The initial interview was a group interview and was pretty gung-ho and shish boom bah with lots of buzzwords and key phrases, it was an hour long and I left feeling not only slightly disoriented but still not sure exactly what the job was.

Oddly, instead of being called back for a follow up interview, I had to call in 2 days later to see if I was selected for the 2nd interview.  Again, being desperate, I called and got the "so glad you called, you were one of the best candidates" line..which should have rang a loud bell since they never once talked to anyone as individuals.  So went into the 2nd interview and found that it was more of a training seminar for the "product", which was described as an "air filtration device" ....what a laugh...it was a Filter Queen vaccume.  If anyone ever saw a Dyson and thought , golly gee, thats expensive, never EVER had a filterqueen sales pitch.  $1200.00....try selling that to the average joe off the block....which, in my desperation, actually tried to do for a month.  epic fail.

Anyway, saw this email and was reminded immediately of that so I figured I would check and as for the person replying that he's the guy who sent out the email, and the support from his "wife", and the 'friend", hope anyone didnt fall for that, considering any tom dick and harry can post to this site, anyone trying to defend this is a dolt.

Well they are clearly still sending out this email, because I just got the same(Executive Associate) and my gut told me it was BS. I'm so glad I found this, it confirmed my gut.
