asking for my social and personal information... had the wrong person but that was scary

Called me and asked my name... If they called me they should know.. They wanted me to tell them my name to verify who i was.  When i asked why they called they said they couldn't tell me until i verified some information that they wanted me to give them.. (not happening) and when i refused and ask her to tell me what info she had and i would tell her yes or no and she got angry and said she would "tell the attorney... " then i hung up

Called and said there were documents in my name forwarded to her office with a case against my name and SSN and to please call her to get her recommendation.

Stacy Reed for Nina Simpson, case number 438946.  What the hay?  I am so tired of people scamming.  They actually gave last 4 numbers of my SS# and that is concerning in and of itself.  I don't have anything that would warrant legal actions against me.  I called the number but got nothing more than a recording.  Why do people do this?.  I think they are trying to get information that they don't have.  If they were truly legal...they wouldn't call you, you'd receive legal papers in the mail or be served at you home.

Since you are so knowledgeable, please answer the following questions:

1. Who are they?  What is their full, legal name?
2. What is their legal physical address (no box numbers)?
3. What is the address of their website?
4. In what states are they licensed?
5. If you knew who they were, why did you search a phone complaints site for their number?
6.  Are you absolutely sure they follow FDCPA rules for debt collectors, including snailmailing a Validation Notice within 5 days of the first call?

Thank you Slim! I didn't know what a "Shill" was so I looked it up. I thought the calls my dad and I were getting were some stupid scammers!!! I was right!! Grrrrrr!! 😡 Luckily my elderly father with dementia never remembered his social security number, because they called him and he answered. He gave them my number. But I never answer numbers I don't know and I don't return calls for something like this unless I have received a letter in the mail with the number printed.
