Several calls from 469-424-5304 from a Jeremy Hicks stating I'm going to be served papers either at my home or place of employment from 3-5, that I've been notified. he even leaves the last 4 of my social on the message. Does anyone know what this about?

i got the same call today..... did they ever show up?

Received call from someone claiming to be a courier and said he was at my place of residence yesterday (although I was here all day and no one came by), he will return today with court documents from ERM associate's. I should call 844-405-1228 and might be able to stop order on this case. Gave me a case number.

The fake process server extortion attempt usually consists of the following:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

I've received 2 calls from Jeremy Hicks stating that he's a legal courier and that he's going to serve me papers either at my home or work and that if they are served at my work then a supervisor will have to sign for them. He states that I must provide 2 forms of identification and that of he doesn't get the papers to me then he'll return then to the 3rd party and it'll be considered a refusal to sign. He gave a case # and said that I should call a different number and reference the case number.  He ends the call by saying that I have been notified.

Called and left a message first time and said they would be by to serve papers and that I knew what it was about. The 2nd call the man asked for me I said this is she and he said, "you need to have 2 forms of ID and I better make sure that Im at home between the hours of 4 and 6." I asked what it was about and what company they worked for. He just said I know what I did and that I need to face the consequences then hung up...... Uh! I got instantly mad and called back. When I called another man answered and they had part of my info. Full name. And the first 5 of my social. They wanted the last four and I refused to give it to them. They said since I couldnt give them that they cant give me the info on what they were hired to do. I asked repeatedly what company and they refused to answer then said they were a mediation company. And proceeded to act like I was tripping out on the phone telling me not yell at him when I wasnt yelling. Even asked me if I just called to argue with him. I realised he was only trying to get info. So I told him to never call my phone again and he kept talking while I hung up on him. Glad I looked it up. Honestly had me pretty upset until I realised his game. Dont fall for their antics.

This man called me asking if I know me.... Then how I know me. I refused to answer this unless he told me what the call was about and he said that he can't release any of MY personal information

Shawna Foster said she had important legal documents containing my name and social..she said that I had better be home tomorrow between noon-5 or they would come to my job! That if they came to my job to serve me papers, a manager would need to be present to 'witness'. And that I needed at least one form of I.D... My question is, why do I need to have a witness at work, but not at home?? Such a scam!

I received the same message...stating they would come by my old address 'tomorrow' between 12-5 to serve me papers.  His name was Tim Cavanaugh, or at least thats what he made up.  I called him back and when I wouldnt verify my last four digits of social security number he hung up.  I called back and he stated that since I wasnt going to verify my info that he wasnt going to waste his time or my time.  I asked for a supervisor and he said it was his office and he was the one who had 'my file'.  I hung up.  Five minutes later I got a call from a number I didnt know, I answered it and it was him....but he said his name was Alice ______ something, I couldnt understand but I recognized the voice. It was 'Tim".  I then said "no, this sounds like Tim' and hung up.   So now, I have have another two phone calls from the same number.  'Tim' or 'Alice' must be bored.  I'm not picking up these calls.
