Scam alert.  Claiming to be from social security and fishing for information.

This number just called my house. Claiming to be Social security board, something about someone losing a fake SSN. We just hung up on them.

Beware of calls like this. The Social Security administration usually does not call people unless you have set up an appointment for them to. They usually send out letters. And if they were to call it would have an area code where the main office is for your state. Number called us had Texas area code, we do not live in Texas my state is far from it. It didn't even ask for anyone by name.

Recorded call claiming to be Social Security about fraud on my number.  The caller did not ask for any one by name, and did not give the number.  I've gotten several of these types of fake SSA calls from various numbers.  My local SSA office said they get lots of complaints about these scammers.
