This number calls me every few minutes all day long one day a week. It's torture. I block the call on my phone but it still rings once.

About 2 years ago, my laptop froze. Could not do anything, until a phone number appeared. I called it. Speaker said they could help- for just over $350 US .I was desperate, so I agreed to pay the fee.
Almost exactly a year later, same thing frozen, yet there was the same phone number. I called, again $299US. Now it is almost 3 anniversary.
Today, for about 8 hours, every 15 min, they called. I finally answered, telling the caller my husband does not need their service. Now my husband has to check the laptop to prevent freezing again!!! Is there anyone who has had the same experience?  Please share your story here! Thank you. Alan

Yes,  there originally nothing wrong with the computer that shutting it down, clearing out the cache and cookies, and installing an ad blocker would not have solved.  Now that you have left them into your computer, they have installed malware as well as other things.

Since the scammers accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
• Disabled the anti-virus software
• Added nasty malware to the computer
• Copied the Contact List (so they can spam/email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
• Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
• Compromised your ID on Facebook or other social site(s), and perhaps on shopping sites.
• "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
• Deleted some important files
• Asked for money to repair the damage they caused

What can you do immediately after such an attack?
1.  Pull the cables on the computer, or otherwise disable it, so it cannot access the internet.
2.  Change ALL  passwords stored on the computer.
3.  Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
4.  Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything.
5.  Inform your bank and credit card companies.
6.  Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
7.  Backup non-executable personal, data files to an external storage device.  (Executable files might be infected).
8.  You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
9.  Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you.
10.  Connect to the internet only AFTER all the above have been done.
11.  Change the passwords on all online accounts.  Even better - access a "safe", uninfected  computer, and change your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.

NOTE:
If your computer set a "Restore Point" while it was infected, any "System Restore" you make will re-infect your computer.  Suggest you delete any potentially infected restore points and avoid setting such restore points until after your computer has been thoroughly cleaned!

Honest computer companies do NOT cold-call people, or cause popups from websites to tell them their computers need fixing!

Some scammers even have websites, and falsely advertise they are associated with popular software packages or computer companies; so do NOT believe a "we will fix your computer remotely" site, and allow them access to your computer!

Lesson:
If your computer needs fixing, bring it to a local repair shop

I would suggest that you get it to that repair shop asap.

They have called at least 20 times already today, when we do answer they do not say a word, just static line.

BEWARE: These people are computer scammers trying to pretend they are Apple techs to sell you a $500+ warranty to fix your computer that they will add a bug to.  BEWARE!   They almost got me but my visa credited my card back!!
 They won't stop calling!  So if I answer the phone I say, "FBI!"  They hang up and stop calling for a little while until their computer adds my number back in!
 I block them but they still figure out a way to call!

That's ok, they got everything they needed when you let them into your computer.  User names, passwords, contacts, banking and credit card info, and they probably installed a back door into it and some malware to boot.

Every day that number is calling me but i don't answer `'cause don't know nobody in Atlanta.Can yo retrace the call and stop that caller to call me back. thank you.

Call on landline from 1-470-809-7050 on 7.25.18. Caller ID said "Out of Area" with no message left. MANY complaints . Reporting to Do Not Call complaints website.

Week of 7/30/2018, receive calls from this number daily, sometimes every five minutes, other times every thirty minutes; never leaves a message. Beyond annoying. Never answer these calls. Have been the "victim" of this type of expensive tech scam in the past, quite similar to another reporter on this site. Never again. Don't answer these calls!
