Craigslist scam artist. Beware.

I just got contacted by this number to buy my iPhone. He's claiming he's out of town for work and wants to buy it as a gift for his cousin abroad and willing to add on to the price to pay for shipping. Don't fall for it.

Confirmed. Just was contacted by this person. Craigslist scam!!! If you fall victim to this scam they will send you a fake PayPal receipt. And expect that you ship the item out of the U.S. and pay for it. How thoughtful. Please avoid!!!!!

Yeap, buying iPhone for his cousin abroad. "Sign up for PayPal and I'll pay you $100 extra to ship it to him abroad"... BS!!!

Still at it wants to buy a  laptop I have listed on craigslist.

Just got a text from this CHUD, same ole story, wants to buy my stuff or should i say steal it. To bad he won't meet me, I want to throw in for free a 168gr. JHP

Wanting me to send my paypal account info so he can pay me for phones that he is wanting shipped abroad.  Offering $100 for the trouble of international shipping.  Think i will stay clear of this one....

Same here. Saying he is working out of town and wants my paypal info to send money for me to ship it to his cousin abroad. good thing i know how to google numbers. Thanks everyone for the awareness.

Wants to buy Laptop, offering 100.00 extra for trouble, pay through paypal, sending fake paypal emails, sent Emails and Headers to spoof@paypal.com, note from paypal, fake, phishing,

Craigslist Scam:

The scam works like this.  They think your item as described is perfect.  They might ask a few questions about it, and then will pay your asking price, sight unseen, because they are never around close by to come look at it (they use the stationed somewhere in the military a whole lot).  They will give you an extra $40 or $50 to old it for them.  Then they tell you they will send a cashier’s check or money order for that amount plus extra for the “shipper”.  They ask you to wire that extra money by untraceable means such as Western Union or Moneygram.  The check or money order turns out to be bogus and you end up out the money you sent plus the bank fees.  Also, if the check is big enough you may end up being charged criminally.  Take the check and the envelope it came in to the post office and have them forward it to the postal inspectors.

In the case of them using PayPal, the same thing happens.  They send a fake email looking like it came from PayPal, get you to pay the shipper, and then find out that the e mail was fake and no money is available.
