I'm not interested in reporting these kinds of calls to a no-call registry. What I am interested in is seeing who the call is from (thanks to those who report their experiences here).  When they call in the future I can either ignore the call or pick up the receiver and "accidently" drop it back in the cradle.  Either approach makes me a happy camper.

They called today at 3:45 p.m.  Of course I ignored it and of course they didn't leave a message.

If you don't want these kind of calls, don't subscribe to free magazines.  ALL of the trade magazines have some sort of verification services and they are relentless because it is too expensive to just send out to everybody.

You either subscribed to an industry publication in the past or your currently are receiving it or you have been identified as working in an industry that they have a magazine for.  I am in IT and over the years I subscribed to Computer World and other computer industry technology magazines.  They are always free but you must be working in the business so they can sell advertising to companies who want you to buy software, hardware, consulting etc.  So they have to verify you are still working in that industry.  Hence companies like this that call you.   If you do get a live person just tell them you are retired and they will delete you.  They don't want to go to the time and expense of contacting a dead lead.

These calls appear to come from American Pacesetters in Mesa, AZ, also known as iPacesetter.  Their webpage lists a  Ray Butkus as their CEO, located in New Jersey.  Call Ray at 201-391-1500 or Jeff Reinhardt at 201-746-7501 to get some action in making these calls stop.  Personally, I'm tired of getting 10 calls a day always asking for a different person.

A lady called from this number to verify my business information before sending me a free trade publication.  Since it was a publication I was not interested in I said "No, thank you, I will decline your offer" and she quietly hung up.

You can still ask them not to call you, they just aren't legally required to comply. The good ones will, because they realize you aren't going to be helpful if you've already asked them not to call.

"vanilla" isn't intended to be racist; it just means "run of the mill" or everyday not necessarily a reference to being white
