Got another call from this number at 12:09PM today. This time caller ID listed MARKETING where company name should be. Same recording as before. I have no Idea why they think I would want carpet cleaning from someone with a phone number that is almost 3000 miles from my home.

So tired of this.  I get several calls from them a week.  Have actually pushed the button "to set an appt" a number of times, including today.  When I start in with, "I've asked for you to please take me off your list", they hang up before I even finish the sentence.  Will try to block.

9/16/14, 3:41 pm. Caller ID read Marketing.  Message left - perky woman's voice with carpet cleaning offer.
Obviously not a legitimate business since they do not adhere to Do Not Call list.

I got a call from this number as well. No VM left, but lately I've been receiving alot of scam calls. Do not pick up.

They called back again one week after last call. I did not answer and no message was left. Again why would I want carpet cleaning from a company almost 3000 miles away that can not even put the company name on the caller ID?

Marketing just called here too wanting to clean my carpets.

Why not set up an appointment with these lowlife using the address of your local police department, DA, or FBI office?  Set a time and ask them to show. When they confirm inform the agency to wait for them. It may only get some dupe that is relying on a referral, but it should help drive these scum out of business.

Caller ID says, "AR, USA" - a dead giveaway this call came from a telemarketer.  I do not answer calls from unfamiliar numbers.  I have just blocked the number.

They've been calling me for a couple weeks already. Carpet cleaning services. I guess I going to have to block the number.

Caller ID says the number, but no other information. This is likely a spoofed number and these types of calls seem to come around late afternoon to evening. I blocked this number, but as an earlier poster mentioned, I try to keep my list current so I don't waste blocked call space on my phone. I feel like these criminals are always a step ahead.

Tired of getting calls when on a national no call list and have been for months.  There is always no message.

What options does one have to defend against intrusive callers?

• The Do Not Call list (Federal or State)
Works, but is effective against ONLY "legitimate" telemarketers.  Charities, political callers, surveys and some other callers are exempt.   Scammers, spammers and criminals ignore the DNC list.

• Shouting, screaming, swearing at the caller
Nope.  Does not stop calls.  May make you hoarse, and will disturb nearby people.

• Call blocker app, device or service
Could be a good choice (even though the scammers can use fake phone numbers), and some apps are free!
Google "call blocker" for more information, or check your favorite online sales site for a list.

* Your phone provider may also offer blocking services.  Check their web page for information.

If you cannot use any of the above defenses, then:
• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.

• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.

They tried again today at 4:56PM. This time caller ID read "15012375048" where company name should be listed. I did not answer call and no message was left.

"Legitimate businesses check the Do Not Call Registry, and if you are on it, they do not call you. "

Unfortunately, Mo this is not always the case.  I have received calls from local businesses and when I mention we're on the Do Not Call List, I have received a snarky attitude and have been told, "We are allowed to call within 50 miles of our business".  I did not want to get into war of words, so I just hung up.  I think they are WRONG of course.

They called again today. They left no message!!!!!
