shows on CID as "DELIVERY CHECK"

Was a recording that said "This is a delivery notification from Verifast" and then tried to say I should call a number to sign up for some delivery service or something. then it hung up.

Never identified who they were or why the hell they were calling me (because I couldn't ask questions to a recording!)

This is an obvious SCAM!

I just got a call from this number. It appeared to come from Astoria, Oregon.

They call daily... Shows up on CID as Astoria Oregon, they never leave a message and I haven't answered when they call. I called the number just now and it's a recording stating that I've reached customer service, if I'd like my number removed from their call list, enter it... So I did and the recording stated that my number will be removed from their call list within 2 days. We shall see if it's removed...if they call again, I'm answering it. Other than that, there's not much you can do when you don't get a human being to talk to even though the recording states that you've reached customer service but gives no other option but to "remove" your number.

Gotta be careful these days about returning calls to any number that you don't know who it is. One scam is they get you to call back a U.S. number then somehow switch you over to some foreign carrier in "say" Haiti who puts you through to some local number that is an answering machine that asks if you'll "please hold". They want to get you to hold for as long as possible until you finally hang up. The next phone bill you get will have some outrageous charge for a call to whatever foreign country you got transferred to. There's nothing your carrier can do as they are just passing on the charge from the fraudulent foreign carrier (who is probably just some guy running a phone carrier business out of his house) and your carrier is still on the hook to the foreign carrier for the charge. Not sure how the whole thing works and how they make their money but my aunt got scammed and ended up with like a $200 charge for one call on her phone bill that she had to pay. I don't return any calls from anyone I don't know.

Have had multiple caller id's but no message.  Always from Astoria.  Answered the phone today.  They wanted to confirm I had received the package of valuable coupons they had thrown in my driveway.  I told them I had not and that I wanted nothing of the caliber to be thrown in the driveway.  They asked to confirm my address.  I told them they could read what they had back to me.  They did, it was similar, but not good enough to get any packages thrown in the driveway.  They said they would remove the number.  We shall see.
