Phoned my mobile indicating that I had filled out a survey for a chance to win an ipad @ walmart. Not me, but he had some correct information about me. He offered "assistance" to get a job "even if you currently have one." Horrible connection, so he finally hung up.

If you get a suspicious number on your caller ID hang-up and enter *57 so that your carrier will trace your call (it works for all carriers).  This forces your carrier to keep track of the number's details.  I would also keep a log and if they call again you need to file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.IC3.gov   I got this information from the FBI and I have already filed complaints against a number that was being used by a scammer from India trying to tell me my computer was having problems (they called four times in one day and at one point Geek Squad was doing a remote repair).

The world has become excessively creepy.  The frauds, scams and hacking are getting to be so bad that people are going to have to get off their phones and the web and resort to talking to their neighbors over the back fence.

I got a call from, 503-741-4211, and the name on my caller ID said SSI also, I didn't pick up, the night before it was the same SSI name appearing, but a different number. I came here looking for info on it.
originated in Springfield OR.  there was no message left.
I never pick up unless I know who it is, or the caller leaves a message that I know is legit.
I wonder what the SSI is standing for.,
I swear I would like to get rid of my phone sometimes.

Caller called my mobile, asked for my wife. Asked what it was about, and caller stated same thing and asked for my wife.  These people are reading from scripts.  I told them if they cannot tell me what this call was about, to not call or try to contact my wife again.  I hate Scam/Spam calls...

This scammer uses another phone number too.  That number is 503-741-4211.  Out of curiosity, I answered.  He asked for my grown daughter by name.  I didn't bother to tell him she'd moved out a few years ago.  But it gave me the creeps that he knew her name.  I did some checking.  Looks like this is from something called Nextel Communications, Inc.  Cities that popped up in my search were Astoria and Springfield.  I think it's a scam telemarketing game.  I will call my phone company and have the # blocked.  It was almost humorous though, because when I said "She's not here."  he said he'd call back later and I replied that "No, you don't need to do that."  He says, "Really?" and I replied "REALLY!"  with feeling.  I doubt he'll call back.  Sounded like a flake.

CenturyLink landline charges $1.00 per *57 call trace. They do not provide any details about the fraudster/criminals traced, they only add it to their private database, then charge you $1.00 for it.  We still get scam calls from every number we've ran *57 on, making the *57 service is costly and pointless.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

"Nextel Communications Inc" is one of the companies that Sprint means.  When it shows, it just means that somebody is using (or claims to be using) a cell phone on Sprint.
