Beware. The person an owner of the phone number is now claiming to be Shirley Matson the name is not important. She found me on a paparazzi jewelry website as an independent distributor. She texted emailed me asking me to order over $175 worth of products. I told her I would not cut from the order without payment and she offered to send a check. I first told her to download the Venmo app and  could pay me through Venmo because it secured. She said she preferred to send a check I told her it had to be a money order or certified cashiers check. When it came time to send the check she stated her accountant allegedly got the cashiers check for $1000 over the original amount by mistake. Could I please cash the check anyway and send her the balance back through Western Union??? This is an old scam and I'm not stupid. I'm playing along so that I can provide all the information and the check to the police department so they can catch this scumbag. Be aware ladies gentlemen be aware don't fall for this crap.

Anything that comes in the mail is under the purview of the Postal Inspectors and should be given to them, both check and envelope.  You are right, the check will eventually bounce and if you had sent the money you would be out both the money and the bank fees.

I received the same email shown in the old comments, verbatim. I'm a new Avon Rep and I was excited to get a good, hefty order amount, but I did feel that things were strange from the start. She found me on my site through Avon, and she can purchase directly from there. She sent a check, and the amount was 3,000$ more than said amount. So, I became cautious and ran across these comments doing research. I reported it to all forms available to file these fraudulent claims, and taking it my bank to do what I can there with it. But it's been years, and nothing has changed. Idk. Big disappointment but I'm glad I caught it before I got REALLY screwed.
