- QuietU2I received the dreaded FAKE call from the IRS. It sounded like a computer generated voice on the message and they did not speak in complete sentences. They said that the IRS was going to sue me and for further information, I was to call them at the above number....naught!
They called my home telephone. I have purposely turned off the ringer to that phone, because I am bombarded with political, charity, telemarketers and crazy callers nearly everyday! Being on the Do Not Call list has not benefited me at all. Because soon after registering my number, I learned that political and charities were still able to call you. UGH!- Caller: FAKE IRS

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - Michael ErnestCall from 509-207-4069 about final notice about a law suit by IRS.

- debThank God for this 800notes! I got the same call and, while I KNEW it had to be a fake, it still scared me. The first thing I did was log on here and found all the above information, and my mind was immediately put at ease. I had been getting these calls from a 'restricted' number once a day for the last week. They had never left a message before though. This time it was the robo voice, claiming that this was my final notice before the IRS would file suit against me, just as described above, with this number for a call back.
Many thanks to the people who called the number back and got further info. Why would someone set up such a scam and then blow it with yelling and cursing at people? Is it just a joke? Is someone trying to make money from this? The scam doesn't seem to scan. What is their game? I would especially feel bad for the seniors who get this and have no one to call on for help. Except that it seems if they called the number back, they would just get obscenities, and the 'scam' would be over. There are some really sick folks in the world. I hope this is as close as I ever come to them.- Call type: Prank
