IRS Scam:
The IRS does not need to sue anyone. They send you first class letters delivered by the Post Office. Several of them. Ignore those, and they then send certified letters that you need to sign for. Again delivered by the Post Office. Ignore those and they simply freeze your bank accounts and anything else you own. If they can do that, then why would they bother with a court case that might take them years before they get in front of a judge? They also do not bother arresting people for a few thousand dollars for the same reasons I have already given.

They don't need to. They would send you correspondences first by mail and identify themselves as Agent # xxxxxx on a recorded line type of thing. If the IRS makes a judgement that you owe money, they send it in writing and if you can't/don't pay, they'll garnish your wages, your property, etc. They don't need to go through a court, judge, trial, law suit, etc.
- Certified Public AccountantI have been preparing tax returns since 1980. The IRS will NOT call you for collections, they will send you letters.

- vickimy message was this; "Hi-this is Jerry Gomez from the IRS, and we are auditing/suing you. please call this number immediately." So I called the number-and held the phone over my toilet while flushing. They must really think people are stupid.

- JusticeThis people keeps calling me but I don't answer the call because I rather obtain information about the number. Few weeks ago I did answer, it was an American man treating me because he said, I owed the IRS. I knew already it was not true, I keep all my finances in order and there is no need for that, I call the IRS and was explain that they don't do that and was able to place a complain against the people behind the phone call, I did not know who they were but I reported the call and phone number.

- nosagishiI came home the other day to find a message on our answering machine, telling us to call 509-209-9395 "immediately." Part of the beginning may have gotten cut off, because I think I heard the word "department" just before 509. After seeing here that it was probably a scam, I couldn't resist seeing for myself. Sure enough, the man who picked up (no accent to speak of, so I assume he was an American) identified himself as if he were calling from the IRS. I burst out into loud laughter, which seemed to disconcert him to the point of speechlessness, and then I hung up.
- RotsenGot the same IRS message from the numbers below, the person had no accent and did not give a name:

9898085038 - MelJust got a text message stating that I’ve recieved a refund of $73.59. It was weird.
