Another number for Benefits Dept some kind of insurance fraud. Report it. The problem is they call from different numbers so blocking one doesn't do anything. Looking it up says SPCTRUM. No idea who/what that is

Why? Knowing who owns a phone number doesn't necessarily tell you who called. Scammers frequently spoof legitimate phone numbers.

Called from SVS SECURE VERIFICATION service intended for my name.  Called my daughter and mother also.  877-409-0258.  IF they're legit they state that they're attempting to collect a debt. I don't owe anything anywhere...BUT please  DO NOT ANSWER OR CALL THIS # BACK.

How are you coming to the conclusion that they are trying to collect a debt.  There is nothing in your post that would indicate that.  If you had more information then why did you purposely leave it out of your post?

    Perhaps you missed:

I do not think the legitimacy (or lack there of) cancels out the caller mentioning that they are trying to collect on a debt.

That isn't how I am reading that sentence.  It was constructed so poorly I suppose it could be read differently.  I'm reading it as if they were legitmate they would state that they are attempting to collect a debt and not that they told him that they are trying to collect a debt.

Looks like multiple scammers are spoofing this number.  The first post here was an insurance scam (although that was two years ago) and the other one is a fake debt/fake process server scam.  The rest of the chatter here is just the Regulars.

Yes, it can be read as you see it.  The thing is, regardless of the legitimacy of the caller, they are going to say they are collecting a debt; the legitimate ones only to the debtor (if they are properly following the law), and the scammers to just about anyone they call, to pressure their intended victim.
I just wish that people would take their time when they compose a post and learn the meaning of the word "proofread" and then apply it to their posts.
