- DoNotPickUp| 4 repliesScam robo-call, apparently from Colfax, WA. Left a recorded message stating that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me. The carrier is Level 3 and I would complain to them, except that I'm pretty sure the CID on this call was spoofed, and Level 3 never originated it.
If you receive a similar call, please remember that if the IRS wants to talk to you, they write a letter. If they *really* want to talk to you, they send agents to your house, and if they want your undivided attention, they seize your bank account(s).
I listed this as a prank call because "scam" is not an option. (Yet. Are you listening, 800notes?)- Caller: Scams R Us

- karenLord, how stupid do these scammers think people are???? LOL....
If the IRS wants me that bad they will find me. LOL.
Geez. I needed a good laugh for today!!! :) - katGot the call this morning stating that he was from the IRS and that there was a miscalculation on my taxes for as much as $3000. He asked if it was intentional or a mistake. The deep Asian accent threw me off. I mean really off! I told him I
did not know what he was talking about and hung up. He did not call back. Hopefully, that is the end of it~ha!- Caller: pretending to be IRS

- Jim| 2 repliesCalled twice with a recording they were the IRS filing a lawsuit against me. I called the number back from a different number, they answered "Internal Revenue Service". I asked if they were from Colfax Washington, to which they replied yes. I said they called the wrong number this time, that I was from a law enforcement office, i was tracking their call as fraudulent and to expect a knock on their door in a few minutes. They hung up. A little while later I called again and a recording said it was a non-working number. Mission accomplished.
- Caller: "IRS"
- Julie replies to Jim| 1 replyThanks so much. What a great idea to tell them. I got worried to come home and find a message like this on my voicemail! Now I am reassured that it was just a scam.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - Rtiagot the call 3 times today. Called back and it just rings and rings and rings

- Sharon Leeper| 1 replyI received a call from 509 288 4624. Colfax Washington carrier level 3
Said it was the IRS that was filing a law suite against us.
We owed $4000 to the IRS.
We asked why we had not received a letter and they said one was in the mail.
I am assuming that this is a scam call as well.- Caller: IRS

- Marleen HowardI had a voice message stating that I was being sued by the IRS and to call this number. 509-588-4624 So I called and he states that I had received a certified letter stating that I owe the IRS almost $3000 for overstating our taxes from 2008-2010. I asked alot of questions and the Asian man said I could file out of court or in court and said I would contact my attorney on this. When I asked to speak to someone I could understand, he hung up. Have not heard back, but did call the police in Colfax Wa. and reported this incident and filed complaints against them also.
- Marleen replies to Sharon LeeperReally freaked me out when I got that message, since I took over doing the taxes. But the more he talked, the more I did not trust this caller. This was last night and I called the number today and it is still active and he still answers with Internal Revenue Service. Wonder when and if they will shut him down,
- JustAnotherScamRecived this call - twice today. Caller ID said the first call came from Colfax, WA 509-288-4633 and the second call came from Vancouver, WA 360-566-2212. Like most of you, I am on the National Do not call registry. -- it doesnt matter. As others pointed out, the IRS is not going to use a robocall to alert you to a pending lawsuit. Honest citizens being scammed by punks again.
- Caller: Claimed to be IRS
- ESame here, got the automated recording that the IRS was going to file suit against me; scam.
- Stacy| 1 replyWe received a call from this number on two different occasions-first time I deleted the message because I figured it was a scam-This morning my husband called the number back-the guy asked for his name and my husband gave him a fake name then my husband asked what kind of a scam is this and the guy said "F*** you" and hung up- Now my husband is going to call him in a few hours and see if it is disconnected-Just getting fed up with all these ridiculous scam callers.
The phone number was 509-288-4624 so obviously he is changing phones but is the same ingrate...
He said he was IRS-- Caller: "Internal revenue service
- Alfalfa replies to StacyThese criminals cannot bear to be called out on their scams. To do so provokes a tirade of profanity or physical threats.
These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.
If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.
The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.
By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.
Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.
They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.
Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.
The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.
If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.
http://money.cnn.com/2015/01/22/pf/taxes/irs-tax-scams/ - SickOfTheseCallsThese [***] called at 6:15 this morning! Don't know the calling number (don't have caller ID), but the callback number they left was 509-288-4663. Already reported them but not holding my breath. This has gotten out of hand. Last night we got at least 6 calls (not the same scam) from someone obviously up to no good. About ready to lose my landline!
- 475I gotta call from 509)288-4624. It was funny the person from the middle east didn't know who she worked for until I asked if she was part of the IRS. Then she had said oh yes that was who she "supposedly" worked for. Then I told her I was going to contact the FBI, and she told to go ahead. As if they would never find her company. And I did some of my own research, and found out that they were calling from Colfax, Washington. Some where on N Main st out that way.
