it's been a couple weeks hopefully you've handled the situation and everything has worked out. I just had a similar interaction with this phone number though didn't give them access to disable norton, contact the police and windows to see what you may need to do you may currently be at risk for fraud and or other issues good luck to you.

This is a hard hitting scam call that convinces people to allow the caller control and access over their computer, I'm not sure what extent they take it probably just looking for personal info but they convinced one woman or did it themselves to disable her norton security system. Please have them reported and handled as soon as possible! Thank you for your service
    • Caller: Said they were with windows but I highly doubt it.

To reverse the scam, look on-line for known Jamaican scam phone numbers and give that to the scammer.  If the scammer calls that number, he will get a huge phone bill due to the fees in calling Jamaica.

I got a voicemail from this number saying that it was the IRS and they were filing suit against me.  I called back and David Williams, badge # 14863, referring to case # DC19289 answered.  David sounded like he was born and raised in the slums of Pakistan, his english was horrible.  Well I went down the rabbit hole and was transferred to the "Head Investigator" Patrick Hunter, badge # 147306.  His english was just as bad as "Davids".

I began to wonder if the IRS actually employed any native english speakers, you know since most of their tax payers speak english...Well anyway Patrick explained to me that there was a discrepancy on my 2008-2010 W2's (David said it was 2010-2014) and that I owed $2585 in back taxes.  He said if I did not make arrangements to pay it that 2 IRS agents, accompanied by the local Sheriff would come to my home within two hours to arrest me.  Also that all my assets and driver's license would be frozen on Monday.  I told him I would obviously like to avoid that scenario but that I wanted to somehow confirm this.

He refused to send me any kind of correspondence on the matter, but gave me a phone number to a guy posing as an employee in the Attorney General's office who recited the info back to me.  His solution for payment was that I would have to get CASH and bring it to either a Bank of America or Wells Fargo, then let him know I had arrived and I would have to wire the money.

He had me for a little bit but it got way to screwey, and looking at it now i can't believe I wasted that much time on the matter.  I am waiting patiently for those sheriffs to arrive.  This is crazy.  It's scary because I could see my grandparents falling to this scheme.  Scumbags

This number called me and I blocked it.  The IRS never calls so if someone calls and says they are from the IRS, it's a scam.

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Received a voicemail this morning stating the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and please return the call. I call the number back because I'm obviously concerned the gentleman answers the phone with a very heavy foreign accent. I said excuse me because I couldn't understand what he said when he answered the phone and he repeated we are a auditing service for the IRS. I hung up. My husband gets home from work to tell me his boss had the same phone calls and it's a scam that the IRS DOESNT DO THIS!! PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT give these people any money or any of your personal information. That's what they are after. ITS A SCAM!! I hope they find them soon..
