- Winston| 2 repliesI received an automated voice message call on my cell phone saying they were from the IRS and this was their last attempt to contact me before they sue me. It is a scam from a Colfax, WA based number.
- Caller: IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- AmySame as above. They don't give my name which is a big red flag. They don't say anything about attempts to collect a debt which is illegal. I also have no issues wth the irs - no audits or back taxes. Total scam so I blocked them.
- Caller: Scam
- Suzanne"This call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you to get more nformation about this case file. Please call immediately..."
- arnieyeah they called and said a law suit had been filed against me. Thank you everyone for clearing this up. Glad I was smart enough to not call back
- Linda SoaperStates they are from the irs and they are suing me for back taxes and that they have sent 3 notices. I have not received any notices. The background noise was loud with other people calling saying the same to others. iT WAS EXTREMELY difficult to understand the person because of the noise and their nationality.
- Caller: IRS
- JessspizThis is the 3rd call I've received from the "IRS" about a lawsuit but I had blocked the first number so this is a new number they are calling from.

- JaniceI received an automated voice message call on my home phone saying they were from the IRS and this was their last attempt to contact me before they sue me. I called them back to get this staightened out but the number they provided is constantly busy. I don't owe the IRS for anything.

- ChazzThis is a BOGUS phone number, and it does not belong to the IRS. The IRS if they are going to say you OWE money will contact you via snail mail, or e-mail. Most times it is snail mail as that cannot be hacked. Be forewarned that they will also try to call your number immediately most times after that call using "PRIVATE NAME"....the IRS does not hide they have a designated land line that is just for this purpose, and if they call you they, give a case number, and point of contact. Trust me if the IRS was going to sue you, they would NEVER call you and say if you need information about this case they will make sure you personally are contacted. Just you also know, if you receive a call and they say you are already in a lawsuit, simply ask "OK, not the right procedures, if I already have a case for a lawsuit, I would have been served notice personally" all this information mainly comes from my wife working for the IRS collections department for about 1 year. Just keeping my fellow hard workers and veterans informed.
- Caller: BOGUS
- Call type: Debt collector
- LarrySame as the others regarding the IRS. I called the number back from my work phone. If you want an entertaining call with lots of expletives hurled at you, I recommend it. It's also fun to tell them that you have a warrant for their arrest and that they'll be someone's boyfriend in prison. Definitely sounded Indian.
- DianeMe too 10 minutes ago...called my accountant, then my son, but then googled the #...getting smarter after some nonsense earlier this year with another phone call related to my computer. Very quite background.
- Caller: IRS
- Call type: Prank
- Keith schwallenbergI received a call today reportedly by the IRS, saying they have tried to call me and this was the last attempt before they sie me. WTF?

- MH replies to WinstonI just received an automated call on my cell as well, stating that the IRS was going to sue me and to call this number to "discuss my file". Total scam.
- SandraJust received a call sating the same as everyone above. Did not answer, but they left a voice mail stating they were the IRS and were filing a law suit against me. I did not make an attempt to call them back.
Has anyone actually tried calling the IRS to report this to them? - Sara RadcliffeSame happened to me, however I called back the number on my work cel phone, not the number they gave me to call back, the number they called from. I got a recording that my company doent authorize out of the country calls. This call came from a router out side of the U.S..irs? Let's think about tis...

- LorettaDefinitely a Scam. Just called AGAIN from 5509-288-4989. We have several Apple products on our account. All of our devices rang at the same time from the same number. Only one had the message that we were being sued by the IRS.
- Caller: Unknown supposedly IRS

- Katherine| 1 replyGot a call from this number today, didn't answer, but they left voice mail. The message said the same thing everyone is saying that the IRS was going to file a lawsuit and I needed to call to discuss my file. I called the number back and a man with a very thick accent answered, I told him I just got a message from this number, but when he stated the name that was associated with my phone number, it was not my name, definitely a scam!
- Caller: Not sure
