Do you by chance know who it was?

The call was about solicing sponsorship for the Washington State Law Enforcement and Fire Fighters Fund Drive.  The call came from Royal City, Washington

If caller is soliciting funds for WSLE and/or FF it is a scam.  Telemarketing is NOT how either group raises money.

First time a call came from this number.  Caller ID just showed the phone number.  I didn't answer and no message was left.

No message left, has ALL the earmarks of a scam call.

It Is for the washington state law enforcement assc. It's how they do there fund raising for some good programs

The guy called my grandma when she said she lived on social security he very quickly said ok I will let you go now it sounded like a cell phone

For the answers on this board that say "That is how WA Law Enforcement" collects funds for good causes you should check your sources.  That is NOT how WA law Enforcement solicits donations.  By the way, I'm with the Rubber Band Society and were trying to get donations to study the gullibility group grandmas.

It is not how they do their fundraising. This is an old scam at least 30 years old. TAXES and LEVIES are how they raise their funds. Once in awhile the Fire Departments will have a BOOT collection. But you go to your local Fire Station to donate, they do not come to you (especially via telemarketing).
